Quali sono i concetti e le parole chiave che guidano la
progettazione di barche e yatch oggi?
Cito alcuni dei quattro progetti Sanlorenzo, che sono stati
selezionati dall’Adi – Associazione per il Disegno Industriale
– per concorrere al Compasso D’Oro 2020. Il primo è lo
yacht SX 88 di 29 metri di Piero Lissoni. Ha proposto un open
space che valorizza la specificità di questa imbarcazione
dalle ampie vetrate e dai grandi spazi esterni. Il super yacht
Explorer di 42 metri, di Antonio Citterio e Patricia Viel, in cui
si è ha lavorato sugli spazi interni e outdoor, e il SL 102 A di
Bernardo Zuccon, un 34 metri, il primo Yacht asimmetrico
della storia della nautica, che ha avuto un grandissimo
successo, rivoluzionando la linea dei plananti Sanlorenzo.
A parer mio, è una sorta di omaggio al pensiero del
famoso storico dell’architettura Bruno Zevi che, nel suo
mitico libro Il linguaggio moderno dell’architettura, elencava
tra le invarianti dell’architettura contemporanea anche e
soprattutto l’asimmetria, come suo importante elemento
distintivo. Infine è stata selezionata una nostra installazione
Il mare a Milano del 2017, realizzata in collaborazione con lo
studio Neo per la Triennale di Milano, durante la settimana
del Salone del Mobile.
Una riconferma del nostro rapporto organico con il design
contemporaneo.

What are the concepts and keywords that drive the design of
boats and yachts nowadays?
I will mention some of the four designs by Sanlorenzo that
have been shortlisted by ADI – the Italian Industrial Design
Association – to compete for the Compasso D’Oro award
2020. The first one is the SX 88, a 29-metre yacht by Piero
Lissoni. It provides an unusual open space that emphasises
the specificity of this yacht, with its large windows and vast
outdoor areas. The Explorer, a 42-metre super-yacht by
Antonio Citterio and Patricia Veel, where we worked at the
interiors and outdoor areas, and the 34-metre SL 102° by
Bernardo Zuccon, the first asymmetrical yacht in the history
of sailing, which has been a huge success, revolutionising
the style of Sanlorenzo planing hulls. In my opinion, it is
a sort of tribute to the philosophy of Bruno Zevi, the
famous architectural historian, who, in his legendary book Il
linguaggio moderno dell’architettura, included asymmetry,
and particularly asymmetry, in the list of invariants of
contemporary architecture, as one of its main distinctive
features. Finally, one of our installations Il mare a Milano of
2017 was selected, created in collaboration with Studio
Neo for the Triennale in Milan, during the week of the Salone
del Mobile. A reconfirmation of our organic relationship with
contemporary design.
