RAFAEL DE CÁRDENAS’ interpretation of Transi
tional Style is distinguished, in particular, through
the unusual shape of the room. Chapellike
niches with an almost sacred momentum are
created from the gentle, curved Sshape of
the floor plan. The arches connecting the differ
ent zones strongly express this theme. The
transparent dome which admits natural light,
literally keeps the architecture open to the
recurring rhythm of day and night. Traditional
elegance and new ideas are combined here
in an extravagant manner.

L’interpretazione dello Transitional Style di
RAFAEL DE CÁRDENAS affascina soprattutto
per i suoi volumi insoliti. Così dalla morbida
forma sinuosa ad S si sviluppano nicchie a cap
pella con un’allure quasi sacrale. Gli archi delle
porte che collegano le diverse zone replicano con
continuità questo tema. E la cupola trasparente
da cui filtra la luce naturale mantiene l’architettu
ra letteralmente aperta al ciclo alternarsi di
giorno e notte. Eleganza tradizionale e nuove idee
si fondono qui con originalità.

La interpretación de RAFAEL DE CÁRDENAS del
Transitional Style impresiona sobre todo por
la inusual forma del espacio. Así, de la suave y
ondeante forma en S del plano surgen unos
nidos que, como un oratorio, crean un momento
casi sagrado. Los arcos de las puertas que
unen las diferentes zonas continúan con este
motivo principal consecuentemente. Y la cúpula
transparente que deja pasar la luz natural man
tiene la arquitectura literalmente abierta al
repetitivo ritmo del día y de la noche. La elegan
cia tradicional y las nuevas ideas se mezclan
aquí con extravagancia.
