Winner: Lighting design of the year 2022.
MVRDV and Delta Light have produced a
series inspired by the beauty in elements
normally discarded as waste.
MVRDV introduced the idea to develop a
new design with Delta Light's waste material,
instead of inventing a completely new
product. The name stems from profile lighting
as a key part of architecture which often
produces offcuts as a residual product
– these scrap elements became the starting
point of the design.
Judges comments:
"High Profile is an ingenious use of discarded
materials to create a very strong narrative. The
lamp fits into a range of different aesthetics,
whether you are are going for pastel or metal."
Aluminum: ductile, light, resistant,
but above all durable.
From design to architecture, from
decoration to art, aluminum is back in
fashion. It knows how to be metallic,
reflective and futuristic, or simply powder
coated, like the High Profile series from
Delta Light and MVRDV.
Bold and colourful
The industrial look is softened by giving
the profiles a colour dip; the series
comes in pink, random, raw white
and turquoise, among others, adding
MVRDV’s well-known use of expressive
colours to Delta Light’s typically white,
black and gold range.
Wall, ceiling & stand alone
The High Profile series presents a
cube-shaped pendant luminaire, a wall
fixture in the shape of an arch, and a
freestanding model with profiles placed
side by side.
