To be at once seat and sculpture, a lounge chair must satisfy standards that would appear to be contradictry. Developed in collaboration with Werner Aisslinger, the new DS-144, however, refutes this paradox. Minimalist in its streamlined design, it affords themaximum of seating comfort. The flatness created by its encircling edgework imbues theDS-144 with un accustomed clarity, directness and immediacy. The star-shaped base takes upand continues the striking design language which enables the DS-144 to merge into contemporary living areas and demanding cotract projects with equal aplomb. With upholsteryin muted tones, the aesthetic effect flows solely from the chair’s shape and the quality of its leather. Exciting accents are created by the contrasting colour of the decorative stitching orthe paintwork of the star-shaped base. The deeper dimensions of the DS-144 just cry out to be experienced: thanks to its precise sculptural design, it holds the body in a comfortably yielding embrace just like the perfect seat of a racing car. The DS-144 thus becomes an ideal haven of peace, providing - regardless of where and when - genuine relaxation or fostering concentration on what is truly essential.
