The quest for perfection of classical sculpture
led to the conception of the Chiasmo. Through
the arrangement cross of the limbs (the flexed
leg corresponds to the opposite arm flexed, the
outstretched leg corresponds to the opposite arm
outstretched), the problem is solved of the balance of
the figure standing.
Das Streben nach Perfektion der klassischen
Bildhauerei führte zur Erschaffung des Chiasmo. Durch
die Kreuzanordnung der Gliedmaßen (das gebeugte
Bein entspricht dem gegenüberliegenden Arm
gebeugt, das ausgestreckte Bein entspricht dem dem
gegenüberliegenden ausgestreckten Arm), löst man
das Problem des Gleichgewichts der stehenden Figur.

Attraverso la disposizione
incrociata degli arti (alla
gamba flessa corrisponde il
braccio opposto flesso, alla
gamba tesa corrisponde
il braccio opposto teso),
viene risolto il problema
dell’equilibrio della figura
stante.
