La única ópera compuesta por Ludwig
van Beethoven, Fidelio, no ha dejado de
atraer a los melómanos desde su estreno
en Viena en 1805. El nuevo montaje,
una formidable escenografía con forma
helicoidal, pretende evocar la prisión
cercana a Sevilla donde el libreto sitúa la
acción dramática.
Marcada por profundos claroscuros, esta
doble hélice va creciendo con fuerza desde
el suelo hasta configurar una suerte de
topografía que crea un atmósfera oscura y
sublime, muy acorde con el tono heroico de
Fidelio, pero sin dejar de lado el potencial
simbólico y escénico de su despliegue.
The only opera that Ludwig van
Beethoven wrote, Fidelio, has never
ceased to attract music connoisseurs
since it premiered in Vienna in 1805.
The new production of the work includes
an imposing set shaped like a double
helix that evokes the prison near Seville
where the action takes place.
Marked by strong chiaroscuros, this
stepped double helix rises dramatically
from the floor to form a topography that
creates a dark and sublime atmosphere
much in tune with the heroic tone of
Fidelio, without neglecting the symbolic
and scenic potential of its display.

scenography for Fidelio,

Berlin-based studio
