acida eN torNo al mundo del mármol,
el legendario Blanco Macael —desde
el pueblo andaluz del mismo nombre en
el sureste de España—, la familia Martínez
Cosentino ha tenido siempre la vocación
de superar los desafíos más ambiciosos. De
las fábricas de esta compañía han salido
miles, tal vez millones, de metros cuadra-
dos de mármoles, travertinos y calizas,
para obras tan importantes como el Patio
de los Leones en la Alhambra de Granada,
la sede del Senado en Madrid o el auditorio
de la Expo de Sevilla.
La capacidad de innovación de la em-
presa Cosentino hizo posible que en 1990
se lanzara a nivel mundial Silestone, una
superficie de cuarzo que ha conquistado
innumerables hogares en los cinco conti-
nentes, y se encuentra en las cocinas de
los más destacados chefs del mundo.
El tesón emprendedor de este grupo,
presente ya en más de sesenta países, ha
tenido un nuevo hito en el año 2013 con
el lanzamiento de Dekton Superficie Ultra-
compacta, que representa la hibridación
de las más avanzadas tecnologías en los
terrenos del cuarzo, el vidrio plano y el
porcelánico técnico.
En 2014, Cosentino quiere hacer una
nueva contribución al ámbito de la arqui-
tectura, en esta ocasión desde el campo de
la comunicación, con la difusión de las
mejores innovaciones, diseños y proyectos
que contribuyan a un mundo más sosteni-
ble y más bello. Presentamos así la nueva
revista C, para el fomento de la arquitec-
tura y otras áreas afines, y esperamos que
agrade a nuestros lectores.

orN iNto the world of marble – the leg-
endary Blanco Macael, from the town of
the same name in the southeastern Spanish
region of Andalusia – the Martínez Cosenti-
no family has always applied itself to meet-
ing the most ambitious challenges. From the
plants of their company have come thou-
sands, perhaps millions of square meters
of marbles, travertines, and limestones for
works as important as the Court of the Lions
in the Alhambra of Granada, the Senate
building in Madrid, or the auditorium at
the Expo of Seville.
The company Cosentino’s capacity for
innovation led in 1990 to the launching,
worldwide, of Silestone, a quartz surface
that has found its way into millions of
homes on five continents, and can also be
seen today in the kitchens of the world’s
leading chefs.
The enterprising tenacity of this corpo-
rate group, which has established a pres-
ence in over sixty countries, marked a new
milestone in the year 2013 with the release
of Dekton, an ultra-compact surface that
represents the hybridization of the most ad-
vanced technologies in the areas of quartz,
flat glass, and technical porcelain.
In 2014 Cosentino intends to contribute
anew to the world of architecture, this
time from the field of communications,
through information on the best and lat-
est innovations, designs, and projects that
make for a more sustainable and more
beautiful world. We are proud to offer this
new magazine, C, that seeks to promote
architecture from the angle of innovation.
