Ceccotti Collezioni has always been a careful
preserver of stories. Stories of people, centuries-
old traditions, manual skills, and quality crafts.
There’s a place, in one of the remotest and most
impassable regions in the world, that silk used
to pass through, in its journey from the East to
the West: Nepal. There, rug making is an art as
old as the populations who live there and it has
achieved unequalled excellence.
Superior materials, colours, a masterly hand-
knotting technique passed down the generations
and, last but not least, the effect of the unique
Nature of these places – the sun, the air, the
altitude – help create elegant, unique pieces.
To celebrate such tradition, Ceccotti Collezioni
has created a collection of rugs that are a perfect
combination of modern design, elegance and, as
usual, excellence in every detail.
Designed by Luca Martorano and Mattia
Albicini, the collection uses the ancient
knotting techniques of Eastern craftsmen to
create contemporary rugs. It includes a number
of silk rugs that seem to brighten or darken,
depending on the direction of the fibre twist.
Because it is handcrafted, the collection is made
more precious by the shades and glimmers that
liven up its seeming simplicity, emphasising
the sophisticated elegance of every single piece.
Available in a range of monochrome shades, the
even patterns of the collection’s rugs, enriched
by the shiny hues of silk, will perfectly fit in any
classic or contemporary living space.
M u s e is a tribute to the Eastern arabesque,
which
recalls
the
geometric
and
visual
impressions of ancient mosaics. The pattern
looks as if it were made of tesserae, painstakingly
matched together on an invisible silk ground.
This is a labour of love that takes a lot of patience
and experience and comes out of the manual
skills of Nepal’s expert weavers, who intertwine
every single pattern, thread after thread.
F i e l d s stands out for its elegant, fine
pattern, where it is the colour, shine and feel of
silk that take centre stage. There is, behind the
delicate appearance of the pattern, an intricate
cutting technique, which adds bulk and a
three-dimensional feel to the surface. It takes
inspiration from light shimmering on the huge
expanses of ploughed fields, which, seen from
above, produce a multitude of chiaroscuro
streaks, like strokes of an invisible brush.
C h e v r o n is not just a name, it is a pattern
that has always featured in nature, art, fashion or
architecture. Our personal take on the pattern is
a reworking of a classic that expands it into space
and time. The thin lines that regularly dot the
even grounds open up and fold onto themselves,
breaking the level rhythm and adding a fresh,
modern twist to the set.
