In 1999 she is invited to the Contemporary Art Museum of
Rieka, then to Zagabria, Dresda and Rotterdam. Anna Molinari
for Blumarine wants a Rose Chair in every one of her bou-
tiques in the world, from Beijin to Honolulu. Missoni opens for
her the doors of his collection, giving her the rarest fabrics to
make the sculptured Chairs which will be exhibited in the first
big Italian show at Studio Cappellini in Milan.
Hermès, in Paris, wants the Chairs for Christmas event 2000-
2001 in the historical shop windows of Faubourg Saint Hon-
oré. In 2003 the exclusive Hotel Meurice asks to the artists to
make some permanent installations for the sitting rooms of
Rue de Rivoli. In 2003 she is in Miami attending “Senzatempo”
with Massimo Barracca, on the occasion of Art Basel, with
eighteen sculptures immediately contended by the collectors.
She becomes part of the big collection of contemporary de-
sign in New York.
In 2004 she prints her first monograph on the Chairs with the
title “Never Rest on you laurels”, with writings by Georges Ast-
alos, Raffaele Carrieri, Grigore Arbore Milena Milani, Luciano
Caprile, Vittorio Sgarbi, Claudia Sugliano, Roberto Tassi Kam
Fu Lee-Pisapia and Giancarlo Vigorelli, four hundred pages of
a book and five hundred colour reproductions which describe
the first eight years of her hard work.
In Italy she exhibits with the most important managers of art
gallery; like Frediano Farsetti, Silvia Guastalla and Stefano
Contini; then she meets Roberto Casamonti and in 2004 she
signs an exclusivity contract with the company Tornabuoni
Arte Contemporanea with affiliates in Florence, Milan, Forte
dei Marmi, Venice, Portofino, Crans Montana. In 2007 always
edited by Galleria Tornabuoni Arte she publishes the “Catalogo
ragionato delle opere recenti”, which illustrates brightly and
efficiently the exclusive and established relationship between
the artist Carla Tolomeo and the trade and sponsor man Rob-
erto Casamonti.
Nowadays her sculptures are present in the big collections of
Contemporary Art: Fiac in Parigi, Art Basel in Miami, Arte Fiera
in Bologna, Miart in Milano. In 2005 the Museo Puskin invites
her to Moscow for her first exhibition in Russia managed by
Yurji Fleischman, after which other exhibitions follow in Saint
Petersbourg and in Kasakistan, and she is also reviewed in the
catalogue by the historian of customs and critic of art Alexan-
dre Vassilev. In 2006 Carla Tolomeo is invited to the Cerratelli
Foundation with twenty five works for the exhibition “I Baroc-
chi”, catalogue edited by Idea Books, with the introduction by
Dante Isella.
In 2007 she is at Villa Reale in Milan with a big personal ex-
hibition “Never rest on your laurels” sponsored by “I Mirabili”
with which the artist signs a contract for exports. In this oc-
casion her new catalogue is presented with the photographs
by Mario De Biasi and writings by Georges Astalos, Raffaele
Carrieri, Dante Isella, Pierre Restany, Vittorio Sgarbi, Alexandre
Vassilev, Giancarlo Vigorelli.
Since 2003 Carla Tolomeo makes big marble sculptured
works. Like Totem with the shape of Dolphins or Moons,
which refer to the main artist’s themes and which are evoc-
ative like her sculptures in fabrics. She makes also works
in bronze and recently she went back to the ceramics, her
ancient favourite material by the workshop of San Giorgio di
Albisola where, at the beginning of her career, she met Lam,
Fontana, Scanavino and all the artists who have trusted her
talent, and have helped her, giving her their example, to
become a great artist.
In 2009 afther important exibition in Sabbioneta the artist is
invited as “artist host” by the Fiera dell’oro to Vicenza.
