OCEAN VIEW APARTMENT
BY ARRCC
Zuckerman Sachs Architects were responsible for building an aston-
ishing Ocean View Apartment located in one of the most prestigious
sites of Cape Town. The Renowned design practice, ARRCC, who
has a refined approach to design highlighting especially substance
and detail, conceived the stunning interior design of the three-bed-
room apartment. The client of this project had a precise vision of
what they wanted, a contemporary and elegant space assorted with
eclectic elements and Asian design inspiration.
From the moment one walks into the apartment, ARRCC’s labour
of work becomes quite unmistakable, the direct access elevator gives
entree to an open-plan lounge, on top of a dining and kitchen area
which leads to a widespread covered terrace that provides sweeping
views over the Atlantic Seaboard.
Throughout the apartment, one of the main materials used was
layered timber flooring which contrasts perfectly with the contem-
porary white Assirelli designed kitchen. The latter presents a central
island in tones of grey and neolith block with a floating timber bar
countertop. On the one hand, the kitchen was incorporated with
OKHA leather cushioned barstools to add a masculine touch to the
area, on the other hand, the client’s art collection was mounted in
this space to guarantee that a sense of character would be given to
this division. A timber feature panel was utilised in the dining room
to divide the white linear wall. An ARRCC custom design dining
table with a herringbone structure was gloriously paired with black
leather dining chairs by Ding3000, resulting in an incredible homage
to contemporaneity. The Design group selected David Reed’s cus-
tom glass pendants to beautifully complement the area above the
table creating a vibrant and colourful ensemble.
Regarding the lounge area, a striking redesigned fireplace, covered
with cladding in oxidized copper panelling converts into the fo-
cal point and concedes a warm ambience. In addition, glass pock-
et doors harmoniously slide into the fireplace cavities, exposing a
side garden and an outside terrace, well-appointed with an outdoor
kitchen, an infinity pool as well as dining and living areas.
