Vista Alegre has the advantage of producing in Europe, more spe-
cifically in Portugal, conversely to many brands who dislocate
themselves to other regions. This allows them to have an under-
standing of everything that is happening within the brand and
also becomes more accessible to launch products, thus facilitat-
ing the whole quest for excellence.
The Brand’s museum was actually created in 1964. Displaying
products from various brands, the monumental milestone rep-
resents the entire history and evolution of porcelain.
Nuno Barra believes that the hospitality sector has changed sig-
nificantly in reference to developing a product. Presently, the
transformation is all about the leader’s wants and idealisations
and those who are actually going to utilise it rather than the
factory itself.
In view of future projects, Barra asserts that the production pro-
cess is going to follow a similar path to the present one, having
a linear notion of what the future holds. Vista Alegre has an un-
canny awareness of the technical challenges ahead particularly
due to the growth of the digital era. As a result, a series of en-
quiries take precedences, such as the contribution of a customer
in the development of a product which leads to issues like cus-
tomization of pieces or a shorter lifespan. Nevertheless, this is a
challenge that the brand is ready to fully embrace going forward.
