Inaugurated on January 31st in 1964, the Intercontinental Genève
ranks amongst the world’s high-luxury five-star hotels. Located at
the heart of the United Nations district, this lush eighteen-story ho-
tel, listed among the heritage buildings of the 1960s, overlooks Lake
Léman and the city of Geneva, with an incomparable view of Mont
Blanc and the Jura mountains. The hotel is situated close to inter-
national organizations and multinationals, as well as PALEXPO, the
Lake Geneva Region’s primary exhibition and conference centre, and
the International Conference Centre of Geneva (CICG). True to its
reputation as the most international hotel in Geneva, the InterCon-
tinental has hosted some of the most famous world leaders. The leg-
endary discretion and security of the hotel have made it the confidant
and caretaker of many events of International Importance. In the
2000s, a new era came to the InterContinental with a complete reno-
vation by New York designer Tony Chi. Member of the Interior De-
sign Hall of Fame, Tony Chi infused the hotel with the quintessential
Zen atmosphere. The extensive renovation took ten years, ending in
2013. After entering the hotel and walking over the cobblestones, one
crosses between two outstanding bronze doors handmade by master
ironworkers and discovers one of the main highlights of the renova-
tion: the lobby. Distinguished by its two-story fireplaces and multi-
ple works of art, the lobby takes us into a cosy experience. The deluxe
hotel offers 333 rooms with 56 suites, two restaurants, three bars,
spa, and sixteen conference rooms. Comfort and functionality are key
to the hotel’s rooms. Combining contemporary elegance and thor-
oughly detailed amenities, all rooms and suites offer panoramic views
of the magnificent site of the city of Geneva, the Mont Salève and the
Jura mountain range. On the 16th and 17th floors, the luxury suites
fuse the intimacy and innovation of a beautiful apartment with the
exclusive services of an international luxury hotel. The Residence,
high on the top floor of the hotel, was inspired by the opulence of the
chateau palace’s of once upon a time, becoming a contemporary cel-
ebration of heritage luxury. Decorated with two large doors inspired
by Versailles, The Residence creates an elegant atmosphere of comfort
and refinement. The furniture and fabrics have been carefully selected
in the finest materials and warm colours. It is comprised of an East
and West wing with a large living room, a library, a fully-equipped
kitchen, a private lift, luxurious bathrooms, a massage room, a gym
and sauna. In regards to the Woods restaurant, Tony Chi wanted to
give raw materials their nobility: wood brings visual warmth for a
cosy effect. The entry table, the immense wall of foliage that covers
the restaurant, and its terrace surrounded by lush bamboo, beside a
small zen-inspired pool, make the Woods the perfect soothing setting
for a Summer meal. Chef Guillaume Bourdillon serves imaginative
dishes using local produce, offering a contemporary cuisine. In addi-
tion and whenever the sun shines majestically, Le Poolside restaurant
and bar, set in a lush garden, welcomes guests in a chic and relaxed at-
mosphere for lunch by the water. The Hotel’s three bars, Les Nations,
Le Fumoir and the Wine Lounge feature a sophisticated urban-styled
décor. Leather sofas, dark wood, comfortable armchairs, made us feel
like we’re on a private New York club. They are the ideal spot for in-
formal business lunches or meetings. Each cocktail produced reflects
an era, its fashions and aspirations. Inside a Zen atmosphere inviting
us to serenity and well-being, we find the Spa by Clarins, a half-cen-
tury of beauty expertise. The Spa by Clarins offers a range of care and
treatments for face and body, including sauna & hammam.
