TRAVEL GUIDE //
THIRD STOP
INVERNESS
Inverness is the capital of the breathtaking Highlands. If you
are curious about the name, Inverness means “the mouth of the
Ness river”. It is, as you already guessed, the neighbour of the fa-
mous Loch Ness. There is so much to see. This is the place to stop
and plan your tour to the Highlands. Unmissable: Loch Ness, of
course, and not because of the lake’s pet monster, Nessie (good
luck trying to catch sight of it, we couldn’t), but mostly because
of its amazing landscape. We were lucky enough to visit the lake
during sunset and the reflection of the dark orange tones of the
sun on the water, as well of the snowy mountains behind it, was
indescribable. But, the beautiful scenery goes on. The next stop is
Eilean Donan Castle, one of the most iconic images of Scotland, a
dreamy castle built on a small island at the point where three great
sea lochs meet. You have to cross a beautiful stone bridge to get to
the 13th-century building and as you do so, you will get a glimpse
of the beautiful mountains across the water. Finally, you must vis-
it the Isle of Skye, one of the most beautiful places on earth and
home to some of the most wonderful tales that you can possibly
listen to about Scotland.
Where to stay:
