AUTUMN/WINTER 2018 STREET STYLE
The Chanel show was inside of a French garden. Karl
Lagerfeld had recreated one in the confines of the Grand
Palais, down to the trellises twined with climbing roses
and urns spilling blooms, and the guests took their
seats in an intimate walled garden circling a fountain
centrepiece. Lagerfeld’s pick of the bunch for next season
included rose satin styles with tulip-shaped skirts.
We can describe the Ralph and Russo SS18 haute
couture show as a fairytale, and that’s exactly what
the fashion house delivered. Quite classic, surreal,
supremely elegant, full of incredibly beautiful garments.
Silhouettes looked very much to the past, sometimes
using the elegance that comes with conservatism and
confidence to ground the looks.
Looking to combine artisanal tradition with contemporary ideas,
Italian designer Pierpaolo Piccioli unveiled his Spring/Summer
collection. The Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Spring Haute Couture collection
for the Italian house was every fashion lover’s dream come to life. The
runway was full of a multitude of spring hues, including hot pink,
lavender and seafoam green.
Beautiful, rebellious and dramatic, the Dior Spring/Summer 2018
Haute Couture show was inspired by celebrating women artists.
There were no bags and only a couple of shoe styles.
Off the catwalks, the fashion influencers and opinion makers brought the most
intricate and painstakingly beautiful looks to the streets modelling of their own.
Giving us a season of epic street style moments, the looks standout outside the shows.
The fashion world attendees fought the biting cold weather and rain with warm fur and fleece
layers, with people displaying unconventional styling, series of monochromatic looks, complete
with berets and coats that are eye-catching.
The fashion week’s audience is one of the main focus and draws the attention of the media that
promotes the sources of inspiration and trends of those who dare the most and those who stand
out with their irreverence choices, making the difference.
The London streets were marked by oversize coats, sweaters, bulky scarves, coats, decked out in
everything from timeless tailoring to totally of the moment sneakers. The main idea is to combine
the classic and casual with sportswear, mixing conservative and daily clothes. The fashion flock has
migrated to Milan for the second season of menswear shows. The week was mainly marked by the
presentation of fashion houses such as Armani, Prada, Ermenegildo Zegna or Fendi. Most of the
opinion makers were dressed in Nike sneakers and surprising accessories like berets and leather totes.
In Paris, the best street-style looks included plenty of women in straight-up couture, low heels,
jeans and relaxed suits, floor-length coats and berets. The elegance present on the streets was
a great highlight, not only during the haute couture shows but also in the menswear shows.
Men showed up in puffers, utility jumpsuits and their accessory of choice: a super-bright scarf.
Dressing for snowy, slushy weather, with tons of statement outerwear, combat boots, vibrant
scarves and other great accessories, the street style in New York stood out, especially because the
main idea was not to follow a common line of pieces but to put together different styles, with
the irreverent hairstyles also dazzling the streets of New York.
