FEITORIA
LISBON, PORTUGAL
It’s near Tejo that we find Feitoria, a Michelin-star restaurant, one
of the bests in town. With a fresh breeze walking through the
main street, we felt embraced by nature and inspired by Portuguese
history. That’s when we arrived at the main statement entrance of
Altis Belém Hotel & Spa. The distinguished welcoming – proper
of a Michelin-star establishment - was already a fresh good start.
Champagne was served and we were delighted to discover the
oriental paintings on the entrance wall.
Soon we found ourselves sitting down in a large and exquisite
room, surrounded by the most diplomatic employees, that quickly
served us offering everything we needed with an extreme efficacy.
The Menu ‘Matéria’, suggested to us, is composed of four dishes,
by the signature of the Portuguese chef João Rodrigues, who
brought the Michelin star to Feitoria. Firstly, we started with
beetroot, smoked river fish and fresh goat cheese, which was a
tremendous delicious trip into our palate, accompanied by a
very good wine, Quinta de Sant’Ana Riesling, 2015 – Mafra. It
was followed by Peniche’s market fish, roe bread stew, winter
leaves and bivalves. This dish was served with Vale da Capucha
Arinto wine, 2015 – Lisboa. Then we tasted the main dish, which,
aesthetically, was irreprehensible. In Portuguese, it is named
‘A matança do Porco’ and it is composed by Iberian pork presa,
grilled lettuce heart and in salt-cured pepper paste. This goes
very well along with an Arundel Petit wine, 2012 – Alentejo. We
couldn’t be happier to experience the final dish named ‘Alcácer do
Sal – Rice, eucalyptus and pine nuts’. It was served along with a
reviving Cassart Gordan Verdelho 10 years – Madeira. We were
always guided by the eloquent sommelier André Figuinha and the
excellent Executive Chef João Rodrigues that described each dish in
a detailed way hard to repeat. Undoubtedly, we couldn’t be luckier
in the way that we were experiencing this menu, once each detail
was revealed. Undeniably, it is an unforgettably tasteful journey
through Portuguese flavours that everyone should try at least once.
