The Foliage Collection, designed by Studio Romani Saccani Architetti
Associati, consists of four carpets dedicated to the seasons of the year.
Leaves are the inspiration of the designs, from botanical cataloging to
their actual form. Stylized profiles trace the contours of the rugs, different
from each other in their margins, geometry, sizes and colors. The central
axis, like a leaf’s median vein, becomes a border for two different methods
of workmanship, which is necessary to give two opposing textures in
New Zealand Wool. The contrast between the softness of one and the
consistency of the other, recalls the tactile experience as when you touch
a leaf, smooth on the top and rough or rippled on the back.
Summer rug is a lively and bright homage to summer. The profile of the
rug is reminiscent of the typical leaves found in lush virgin forests, and
its saturated and contrasting colors recall the warm climate of summer.
Colors of Autumn rug are intense and enchanting: an elegant
juxtaposition of warm red, brown, green and yellow tones, it evokes the
feeling of walking on a real carpet of leaves in a park or in the woods.
Winter evokes, in its form, the angular silhouettes of typically “winter”
leaves, like holly or ivy. The color palette is in cool tones, which recall
snowy winter vistas. From white to green, with various grey and taupe
tones, the colors are soft and sober, never intrusive.
Spring rug has a series of degrading shades of orange and green. Bright
and delicate colors harmonize throughout the rug, recalling a varied and
fresh palette typical of spring blossoms encompassing the buds, flowers
and leaves that bloom on plants.
A story, therefore, that follows the natural cycle of the succession of the
four seasons. A tribute to the authenticity of simple things, capable of
giving emotions.

Associati, si compone di quattro tappeti dedicati alle stagioni dell’anno.
Ad ispirare i disegni è lo studio delle foglie, della loro catalogazione
botanica e delle loro forme. Profili stilizzati tracciano i contorni dei
tappeti, diversi tra loro per margini, geometrie, dimensioni e colori.
L’asse centrale dei tappeti, come la nervatura mediana nelle foglie,
diventa confine per due diverse tecniche di lavorazione, fondamentali
per conferire due texture materiche opposte, realizzate entrambe
in Lana Nuova Zelanda. Il contrasto tra la morbidezza dell’una e la
consistenza dell’altra ricorda l’esperienza tattile vissuta quando si
accarezza una foglia, liscia sul fronte e ruvida o increspata sul retro.
Il tappeto Summer è un vivace e vibrante omaggio all’estate.
Il profilo del tappeto ricorda infatti quello delle foglie tipiche delle foreste
vergini e lussureggianti, e i suoi colori, saturi e contrastanti, suggeriscono
il clima caldo della bella stagione.
I colori di Autumn sono intensi e avvolgenti: un elegante accostamento
tra calde tonalità di rosso, marrone, verde e giallo che regalano la
sensazione di camminare su un vero e proprio tappeto di foglie, come in
un bosco o in un parco.
Winter evoca, nella forma, le sagome spigolose di foglie tipicamente
‘invernali’, come l’agrifoglio o l’edera. I colori sono ispirati ad una palette
fredda, che richiama panorami innevati. Dal bianco al verde, passando
per diverse tonalità di grigio e tortora, i colori si fanno tenui, sobri, mai
invadenti.
Spring ha una serie di tonalità degradanti dell’arancio e del verde. Colori
accesi e delicati si armonizzano così lungo tutto il tappeto, richiamando
una palette fresca e variegata, tipica delle fioriture primaverili e delle
gemme, dei fiori e delle foglie che sbocciano sulle piante.
Una narrazione, dunque, che segue il cliclo naturale del susseguirsi delle
quattro stagioni. Un omaggio all’autenticità delle cose semplici, capaci di
regalare emozioni.
