DIALOGO PERSONALE
A PERSONAL DIALOGUE
FAMILIAR - TRANSFORM
A design starts with the hands. They knowingly guide gestures
that lead the machinery along their journey. This is a collaboration
that unites considerable technical knowledge with a good dose of
sensitivity. Extreme accuracy is required to transform a surface, to
perfect it while at the same time rendering it unique, and capable of
conveying an essence that is best suited to the product and space.
Familiarity is key when approaching the object, and it is through
studying and shaping it that we develop an intimate knowledge of it.
The ability to recognize it when you see it. However, the same piece
of furniture may slowly take on an entirely new appearance.
This might involve its finish, a resin, an engraving, or a combination of
these three elements. At times these pairings happen spontaneously;
two samples are casually put together, leading to experimentation,
testing, and discussion. Getting our hands dirty.
Mixing essences together, the alchemist senses the results.
He is aware of the process. He feels. The designer observes, foresees
needs, and listens to the echoes of style. Both of them adopt a dual
approach to their subjects.
One is purely abstract, while the other is manual. Yet both have a
fundamental connection to the senses. Just like the perfect formula,
the objective is to give meaning, over and above sensory enjoyment.
Harmony is generated through a balance of elements and a profound
respect for this fundamental equation.
A silent temple, a welcoming refuge, a place for conversational
rapport. One’s private spaces evolve with one’s habits, and their
appearance is shaped little by little as time passes.
For Capod’opera the living environment is alive and vibrant, a symbol
of metamorphic evolution. Cupboards and sideboards are placed
within it, like a pause in a conversation, developing a relationship of
spontaneous continuity. In this process, the elements that belong
to the context, its contents, and to us, gather valuable insights one
from the other, contaminating each other in the lengthening light of
the day. Touching its surfaces, outlining its contours and illuminating
details, it fills proportions and enhances volume. The facade of a
Capod’opera piece of furniture is in constant evolution, in accordance
with one’s point of view.
In the same way that a conversation gives meaning, reflecting
one’s mood. Although they may belong to different families, with
far removed decor and finishes, our cupboards and sideboards
are involved in a constant dialogue. This results in their ability to be
interpreted by spaces, and to fit perfectly and completely into them.
Colour, an archetype of transversal uniformity, takes on the role
of unifying element. Finally, we ourselves come into play, with our
ambitions, our expectations. The ability to evoke inspiration, while
representing our identities, signals the end of our journey. And it is
in this way that, almost suspended, the reception area is revealed,
leaving a light mark on our collective imagination.
SENSES - ESSENCES
PRIVATE PLACES - THE LIVING ROOM
01 p. 6
THE ANTIQUING PROCESS
Every mark is made manually
and uniformly to ensure
continuity of the pattern on
all sides. The specific patinas
applied recreate an antique
effect and enhance the
surface texture.
02 p. 7
LABORATORY
The laboratory is a place of
work and exchange of ideas
in which every manufacturing
process is still carried out
by the artisans themselves.
Looking over the machines,
these craftsmen are able to
produce one-of-kind works.
03 p. 8
ACCIAIO PLUS FINISH
Our inspiration derives
from the world of metals.
Lacquered, scratched and
then varnished, the surface
acquires a sheen that
accentuates reflections and
highlights the overall effect.
04 p. 9
LAKE SANTA MARIA
Festuca brings colour to the
shores of the lake and marks
the beginning of spring.
Its jagged shapes are an
object of reflection and a
creative stimulus.
05 p. 10
LAKE SANTA MARIA
The presence of algae
represents a source of
development for lake
biodiversity. Plant motifs
serve as a source of
inspiration for the creation
of finishes, patterns, and
for product names.
06 p. 11
PLACING THE PANELS
The pattern is applied using
the engraving technique.
Every surface may be
customized with a motif of
your choice. Every single
piece is finished manually.
07 p. 23
RAME VINTAGE
The surface is polished in
a single process in order to
make it shine without losing
its natural effect. The Rame
Vintage colour thus takes on
an intense and vibrant tone.
08 p. 59
THE FINAL PHASE OF
FINISHING
Resin is poured or spread
manually, guaranteeing that
every single piece is a one-
of-a-kind creation. A opaque
fixer is used to bring the
texture to the surface and to
highlight the engraving.
09 p. 83
ARTISANAL KNOW-HOW
Our Canneto texture is created
by hand; adhesive paper
tape is used to recreate the
particular pattern on the
surface. The resin is poured,
and the pattern is revealed as
the tape is lifted.
10 p. 107
ROWS OF FEET AFTER
PAINTING
Flyer’s feet are hand painted
and finished to ensure
uniformity between the foot
and the piece’s structure.
11 p. 135
THE PAINTING PHASE
The painting process is
performed on the assembled
cabinet, ensuring that the
colour is evenly applied over
the entire surface of each
single piece.
12 p. 179
RESTED ACCIAIO PLUS
PATCHWORK
Different textures are engraved
on squares that make up a
Patchwork. Assembled on a
single piece of furniture, the
resulting product is unique and
extremely iconic.
13 p. 219
THE FINAL PHASE OF THE
ANTIQUING PROCESS
Complex 3D 400 Engraving is
carried out by hand. The floral
motif is a reference to Art
Nouveau, which stands out on
the aged surface thanks to the
antiquing process.
14 p. 239
SANDING OF THE STONE
RESIN
Stone resin has a strong
material character. In the final
processing phase, our artisans
smooth the surface, to ensure
that it is uniform and that the
texture is pleasant to the touch.
