| WiNG chair
an early Georgian wing chair with an elaborately shaped
wing, flat scrolled arms and a loose seat. While the legs are
of the cabriole type, the carving is unusual and complex —
incorporating both a heart motif at the knee and multiple
spiral volutes. padded feet.
The original resides in the Joseph manigault house, an
example of superb federal architecture. Joseph manigault
was a wealthy plantation owner and statesman. The house
holds an impressive collection of english and french period
furniture.
