Ricordo quando, da bambino, accompagnavo i
miei nonni a consegnare stoffe pregiate ai sarti di
varie città del nord Italia.
Mi piaceva il profumo di quei tagli di tessuto che
mi rimaneva addosso per giorni, sugli abiti e sulla
pelle.
Dopo gli studi, uno zio mi ha chiesto di aiutarlo
nella sua attività di vendita di tappeti d’Oriente
affidandomi un impegno a tempo pieno: mi
occupavo di tutto, dalla comunicazione,
all’allestimento, alla vendita… ho persino dormito
con i tappeti in quel periodo!
E nel frattempo studiavo, studiavo, studiavo su quei
pochi libri che si potevano reperire allora sull’arte
del tessere ed annodare.
Quel primo lavoro si è trasformato subito in
vera passione e, come in un’avventura, mi ha
catapultato in un nuovo affascinante mondo che io
ero intenzionato ad esplorare e conquistare.
Nel 1981, la svolta: una attività tutta per me!
Da sempre curioso e affamato di “conoscere”, ho
scelto di percorrere “strade nuove”
come dicevano i miei colleghi.
La mia azienda non era “semplice vendita di
tappeti” ma era impostata sull’ambizione di
diffondere arte e cultura e si traduceva in mostre
monotematiche su rare tipologie di tappeti etnici,
corsi di tappetologia per professionisti e privati,
viaggi per il mondo alla ricerca di tappeti antichi,
visite ai musei di arte antica,
I remember when, as a child, I accompanied my
grandparents to deliver fine fabrics to the tailors of
various cities in Northern Italy.
I liked the scent of those fabric cuts that remained on
my cloths and my skin for days.
After my studies, an uncle asked me to help him in
his business of oriental carpets and hired me full-
time. I took care of everything: from communication,
to visual display and sales ... I even used to sleep
with the carpets at that time!
In the meantime, I used to studying on those few
books that could be found then on the art of
weaving and knotting.
That first job immediately turned into a real
passion and, like an adventure, catapulted me in a
fascinating new world that I was willing to explore
and conquer.

La passione ti spinge a far esperienze e, grazie a
queste esperienze, ho formato negli anni la mia
sensibilità estetica.
Oggi posso dire con orgoglio che sono riuscito a
trasmetterla anche ai miei figli Sara e Riccardo, che
rappresentano la nostra quarta generazione, ed a
tutto il mio team di designer.
Coniugando tradizione ed innovazione, arte e
design prende vita il nostro stile del tutto italiano:
lo stile di Artep.

In 1981, the turning point: my own company!
Always curious and hungry to “know”, I chose to
walk a “new road” as my colleagues said.
My company was not just about selling rugs: it was
based on the ambition to spread art and culture,
organizing exhibitions on rare types of ethnic rugs,
courses of carpets for professionals and private
individuals, travels around the world in search of
ancient rugs , visits to museums of ancient and
contemporary art and design…
Passion drives you to make experiences and, thanks
to these experiences, I have formed my aesthetic
sense over the years.
Today I can proudly say that I was able to pass it
on to my children Sara and Riccardo, who represent
our fourth generation, as well as to all my team of
designers.
By combining tradition and innovation, art and
design, our Italian style comes to life: the style of
Artep.
