“For me, lightness is the result of a work of essentiality, of the rela-
tionship between form and static... For me, the theme of beauty is very
much related to this and brings us closer to the great question of nature
where you cannot separate the aspect of efficiency from that of beauty.
You can’t take anything away from a flower without undermining its fun-
ctioning because everything “serves a...”, but that “serves a...” actually
produces an object representing beauty for us. Beauty is therefore,
as far as I am concerned, the search for this inseparable relationship
between the forces applied to an object and the form that is necessary
to make the object structurally resist.”

“Per me laleggerezza è figlia di un lavoro di essenzialità, della relazione
tra forma e statica... Il tema della bellezza è per me molto legato a que-
sto e ci avvicina a tutta la grande questione della natura dove non si può
scindere l’aspetti di efficienza da quello della bellezza. Non puoi toglie-
re niente da un fiore se non mettendone in crisi il funzionamento perché
tutto “serve a...”, però quel “serve a...” di fatto produce un oggetto che
per noi rappresenta la bellezza. La bellezza quindi è, per quello che mi
riguarda, la ricerca di questo rapporto inscindibile tra le forze applicate
a un oggetto e la forma che è necessaria per far resistere strutturalmen-
te l’oggetto.”
