Ogni elemento dello scenario abitativo concorre a
generare la percezione spaziale della casa: connessioni
visive di colori, materiali, forme, opacità, trasparenze,
ri�essioni, elementi di compartimentazione o per la
creazione di aree di intimità. Attraverso scelte accura-
tamente orchestrate è possibile governare l'interazio-
ne del tutto ottenendo così un perfetto unicum, capa-
ce di restituire a chi vive lo spazio, un benefico senso
di armonia e bellezza.
In questa prima edizione di ABOUT SPACES sco-
priremo come un grande segno circolare che separa
connettendo visivamente due aree della casa di diver-
sa funzione, diventi un elemento simbolico della scena,
creando un centro visivo che orienta e ordina il tutto.
Così come uno spazio che sorprendentemente ne rive-
la un altro aprendosi grazie ad un elegante movimen-
to di una parete, possa dare un senso di divenire alla
definizione dimensionale dello spazio. Vedremo anche
come la qualità dello spazio anche interno all'architet-
tura sia in�uenzato dalla relazione armonica tra pieni
e vuoti. Dimostreremo che la percezione dello spazio
è spesso in�uenzata dalle superfici che, quando sono
specchianti, alterano e moltiplicano la profondità dello
spazio stesso che narcisisticamente guarda a sé stesso.
Infine constateremo come un semplice contrappunto
materico o cromatico possa generare un senso di con-
nessione visiva anche con l'ambiente esterno.
Cinque temi, ciascuno con l'obiettivo di portare un
proprio sofisticato arricchimento concettuale nel no-
stro dialogo sulla percezione dello spazio abitativo.
Each element of the dwelling scenario contribu-
tes to generating the spatial perception of the house:
visual connections of colors, materials, shapes, opa-
cities, transparencies, re�ections, subdivisions or the
creation of areas dedicated to different functions. By
making strategic choices, the interaction of the whole
space can be ruled to obtain a perfect unicum, ca-
pable of giving back to those who live in the space, a
bene�cial sense of harmony and beauty.
In this �rst edition of ABOUT SPACES, we will disco-
ver how a large circular sign that separates, yet vi-
sually connects, two areas of the house with different
functions, becomes a symbolic element of the scene
and creates a visual center that orients and orders the
whole space. Just as a space that surprisingly reveals
another by opening up, thanks to an elegant move-
ment of a wall, it can give a sense of dynamicity to
the dimensional de�nition of the space. We will also
see how the quality of space, even inside architecture,
is in�uenced by the harmonious relationship between
full and empty spaces. We will demonstrate that the
perception of space is often in�uenced by re�ecting
surfaces that alter and multiply the depth of the space
that narcissistically bounces itself off. Finally, we will
see how a simple contrast of materials or colors can
generate a sense of visual connection, even with the
outward environment.

sophisticated conceptual enrichment into our discus-
sion on the perception of the living space.
ABOUT SPACES è uno luogo di ri�essione sulle di-
namiche dello spazio dove ogni elemento della scena
che lo definisce concorre alla sua percezione. Un ruolo
particolarmente rilevante è interpretato dagli elementi
di architettura �uida che hanno lo scopo di connette-
re le diverse aree della casa favorendone le specifiche
funzioni. ABOUT SPACES è anche un'area editoriale
dove raccontare le innovazioni tecnologiche e stilisti-
che di ADL, tutte derivanti dall'obiettivo di favorire la
percezione unitaria della casa stessa.
Ogni tecnologia sviluppata dal reparto R&D e ogni
nuova idea dell'ufficio stile e design, è pensata in
modo da armonizzarsi con la vasta gamma di soluzioni
del portfolio prodotti ADL nell'ottica di rispondere alle
esigenze di compartimentazione di tutta la casa sem-
pre in continua evoluzione, così come lo sono gli stili di
vita contemporanei.

zioni che possono aiutare architetti e interior designer
ad affrontare il tema della compartimentazione con un
evoluto approccio olistico.
ABOUT SPACE is a place of re�ection on the dyna-
mics of space in which every scenic element contribu-
tes to its perception. A special role is played by the
elements of �uid architecture, which have the purpose
of connecting the different areas of the house favo-
ring their speci�c functions. ABOUT SPACES is also an
editorial area where ADL’s technological and stylistic
innovations are told; all of them deriving from the goal
of favoring the unitary perception of the house itself.
Every technology developed by the R&D depart-
ment and every new idea of the Style and Design Of�-
ce are designed to harmonize with the wide range of
products of ADL portfolio in order to meet the needs of
dividing the whole house that are constantly evolving
like it happens with contemporary lifestyles.
