Ormai è quasi un secolo, e di questa lunga durata, di questo vivere il tempo con
naturalezza e fiducia, LEMA ha fatto la sua cifra stilistica. LEMA è una storia di fa-
miglia e di quattro generazioni che attraversa il Novecento ed entra nel terzo mil-
lennio, fedele ai valori che l’hanno guidata da sempre. Nei primi anni Trenta, nel
centro di Arosio, sulle colline della Brianza, la famiglia Meroni apriva una bottega
artigiana di arredi. E forse proprio la posizione elevata di questo antico borgo,
da cui si intravedono già le Prealpi, ha suggerito un futuro più ampio, più aperto.
La prima tappa del viaggio è Milano. Nel 1948 la famiglia
Meroni inaugura il suo primo negozio e poco dopo la sua
prima azienda, La Sorgente dei Mobili. È solo una questione
di tempo, perché un giorno l’atlante del design internazio-
nale registrerà la presenza di LEMA in oltre sessanta paesi,
in ogni continente. Eppure la “sorgente” a cui LEMA attinge
resta la stessa: è la sapienza artigianale, la cura, la passione,
l’attenzione al dettaglio. Sono quei gesti che solo il tempo
rende virtuosi.
Nearly a century has passed, and LEMA has made this enduring sense of time,
this natural and confident way of living, its defining signature. LEMA is a family
story spanning the twentieth century and entering the third millennium while re-
maining true to the values that have always guided it. In the early 1930s, in the
centre of Arosio, on the hills of Brianza, the Meroni family opened a small artisan
workshop. Perhaps it was the elevated position of this historic village, with the
Prealps visible in the distance, that suggested a broader, more open future.
The first step of the journey led to Milan. In 1948, the Meroni
family opened their first store and, shortly after, their first
company: La Sorgente dei Mobili. It was only a matter of time
before LEMA’s presence was marked on the internation-
al design map, reaching more than sixty countries across
every continent. And yet, the “source” where LEMA draws
have remained the same: craftsmanship, care, passion and
attention to detail, gestures refined over time, made virtu-
ous through experience.
