Maurizio Manzoni
struttura in metallo.
dettagli glam, linee retrò e stile contemporaneo.
One of the cornerstones of the philosophy followed by the Castello
Lagravinese Studio is a contamination between different aesthetic
styles, where the contemporary blends with the traditional in an
ironic and innovative manner.
Throughout their collaboration with the Cantori brand, Alessandro
and Maria Antonietta have always been guided by two fundamental
principles: an inspiration towards the world of fashion and a
contemporary reinterpretation of classic furnishing styles, exploiting
to the full the company’s in-depth knowledge of metal working.
The Twist and Aurora-Urbino product families are iconic symbols
of these two trends.
The range of Twist products is clearly inspired by the glamour of
the fashion world, borrowing details from it such as decorative top-
stitching and especially the characteristic bands of twisted leather
covering the metal frame.
Conversely, the Aurora seats and the Urbino bed draw their
inspiration from an icon design of the past, the Windsor chair,
restyled in an appealing, contemporary version with the use of
metal, a material representing the origins and history of the Cantori
brand.
The outcome of the union between the creative expertise of the
Castello Lagravinese Studio and the skill of the Cantori craftsmen
is a collection of items that combine functionality and emotionality,
expertly mixing glamour details, retro lines and contemporary style.
col fruitore.
In the eyes of Maurizio Manzoni and his team with whom he works
in perfect synergy, it is essential to consider work processes as an
expression of the human ability to create things.
Wrought iron, an element that Cantori is famous for, has been
rediscovered and redeveloped by him for inclusion in the latest projects
as a radical and primeval work process forged by the smithy. They
are shapes that are never the same - they are always different like
sculptures.
In the Shanghai collection, you can see that the vertical structures are
cylindrical elements that have been forged throughout their length and
then finished with contrasting details, also made of metal but with a
smoother finish.
The new Cantori appeal was then outlined by him, taking full advantage
of high quality craftsmanship and using a number of materials in
timeless items that go beyond momentary whims.
So black ash wood was chosen, where the three-dimensional grain
is a dominant feature. Or the novel use of darker shades of travertine.
Maurizio Manzoni wants it in natural style, with open pores, pleasant to
the touch and really pleasing to more than just the eye.
The metal used in the Mirage table support has light and dark contrasts
achieved through an unusual and skilful form of processing.
The new collection is the result of a research mainly focused on the
material and its spirit. In this context, material means an element that
comes alive in man’s hands and through his ingenuity and, thanks to
the collaboration between Cantori and Manzoni it acquires the “power
of speech” to communicate with the user.
