L’Ametista è una forma di quarzo color porpora
nella quale tracce di manganese creano il co-
lore mentre tracce di ferro ne determinano la
profondità. La parola “ametista” ha origine
dal Greco ‘amethystos’, cioè dal prefisso
‘a’ (anti) e da ‘methyein’ (ubriaco) o ’methy ’
(vino). Alla pietra si attribuisce la capacità di calma-
re la mente, di facilitare e approfondire stati di meditazione o
sonno e di rilassare il corpo. L’ametista viene considerata una
‘pietra tranquillizzante’ che calma coloro che sono in costante
attività mentale ed è per questo spesso chiamata “Il Tranquiliz-
zante della Natura”.

nese create the purple colour, while traces of iron are responsi-
ble for its depth. The word “amethyst” derives from the Greek

or ’methy ’ (wine). This stone is purported to calm the mind,
to enhance meditation or dream state and to relax the body.
It is said to be a calming stone that soothes those in constant
mental activity, and, therefore, it has earned the nickname of
“Nature’s Tranquilizer.
