The design of the VELA has been fundamentally revised and adapted to meet the requirements of LED technology. The housing is now made of diecast aluminium, and the entire housing now contributes to optimal cooling for the LEDs. In addition, the cover was replaced by an injectionmoulded form with optimised technical lighting properties that can be snapped into place. This new structure for the VELA+ provides a number of benefi ts for customers. All direct VELA+ luminaires have a standard design that meets the IP 43 safety standard. This means that the luminaire is not only protected against foreign substances with a diameter of 1 mm or more, but is also protected against water sprayed. The VELA+ is also optionally available with an IP 54 rating that prevents any damaging quantities of dust from penetrating into the luminaire. The VELA+ luminaire can therefore be installed even in covered exterior areas, giving architects and planners the ability to create a harmonized design language both inside and outside. With its new design, the VELA+ is also signifi cantly easier to install. The system can be mounted on ceiling or wall using a base plate, to which the entire luminaire is then attached. This change in design means mthat it is no longer necessary to open the luminaire on the construction site, and it also eliminates any damage to the LED boards.
