About XAL
Our history
Founding
Andreas Hierzer lays the foundation
for the corporate group xenon lights
by developing innovative halogen wire
and track systems in a garage. Prod-
uct modularity plays a significant role.
First product series with LED tech-
nology & market-defi ning innovation
Today, XAL stands for innovation
and over 20 years’ experience in
LED technology. Before others, we
recognise that LEDs shape the future
of the lighting industry and, planning
ahead, invest in our own electronics
manufacturing at the headquarters.
We launch the VELA round luminaire
series. It has since become a timeless
design classic.
The company name and logo change
in 2004. Xenon lights become Xenon
Architectural Lighting and eventually
XAL.
Internationalisation
After establishing the fi rst interna-
tional subsidiary in the USA, Germany,
Switzerland, and Great Britain follow
in quick succession – today XAL
operates worldwide with 30 national
subsidiaries.
Expansion of production in Europe
To react quickly and fl exibly to cus-
tomer requirements, we continually
invest in the expansion of production
locations and technologies at our
headquarters in Austria. With the
establishment of XAL Slovenia and
the construction of our own produc-
tion hall in Murska Sobota, we take an
important step towards the greatest
possible in-house production depth.
