Protection class IP68
Far exceeds the standard
“International Protection” (IP) indicates the suitability of
electrical equipment for use under various environmental
conditions. Given that our specific challenges could not be
greater, we leave nothing to chance. Without exception, all
Wibre underwater spotlights fulfil the IP68 protection class
and are permanently 100 percent waterproof. This guaran-
tee reflects our credo, our mission, and our passion. In this
respect, we have been, and continue to be, pioneers.
According to DIN EN 60529, the digit 6 after the abbreviation
IP stands for dust-tightness and complete protection against
contact. The second digit 8 stands for protection against
continuous immersion. As such, our spotlights are absolutely
waterproof.
In addition, the IP68 test procedures include tests in accor-
dance with the EN 60598-1 and EN 60598-2-18 standards.
These standards govern the general and specific require-
ments for luminaires; in particular luminaires for swimming
pools or comparable applications. We aim to exceed the
standard and, therefore, we go one step further. To ensure
optimum protection, we significantly increase the test
duration and the spotlight temperature during the certifi-
cation process by applying a water pressure far exceeding
the standard value.
