Ogni cosa al suo posto, ogni
forma per la sua funzione, ogni compo-
nente col suo materiale: la gondola ve-
neziana è stata celebrata dalla storia
come esempio di funzionalismo ed effi-
cienza progettuale, andando ben oltre la
sua immagine vernacolare. Se non fos-
se un esempio straordinario d’ingegneria
della mobilità, sarebbe impossibile ve-
dere un’imbarcazione guidata da un sin-
golo rematore andare dritta nonostante
la propulsione asimmetrica. Il segreto è
quindi tutto nell’unione tra chi la gover-
na e il suo design: una metafora emble-
matica di quanto avviene in azienda.
Il letto Canalgrande, firmato da
Ragni e Tiziano Carnieletto, è davvero la
chiusura del cerchio, la coincidenza di
alpha e omega di una storia, il segmen-
to che unisce tutti i puntini e fa emerge-
re la figura finale. Quello che affiora è un
modello antico ma innovativo, che co-
niuga molte prestazioni grazie alla te-
stata “abitabile” e “attrezzata”, tramite
un sistema che integra mensole, ripia-
ni e imbottitura. Ma è anche l’immagine
più ampia di un’azienda che ha saputo
da sempre non fermarsi, scorrere legge-
ra e fluida verso nuovi traguardi, accet-
tando la sfida del cambiamento, il quale
- mai come oggi - è una delle poche cer-
tezze del nostro tempo.

Canalgrande
Everything in its place, every
form has its function, every component
with its material: the Venetian gondola
has been celebrated throughout history
as an example of ultimate functionalism
and design efficiency, reaching far be-
yond its vernacular image. If it were not
an extraordinary example of transport
engineering, it would be impossible for
a boat that’s propelled asymmetrically
by a single person to travel in a straight
line. The secret is therefore all in the un-
ion between its design and those who
navigate it: an emblematic metaphor for
Twils’ way of working.
The Canalgrande bed, designed
by Ragni and Tiziano Carnieletto, rep-
resents the closing of a circle, the al-
pha and omega of a story, the piece that
joins all the dots to reveal the final fig-
ure. The result is a unison between the
ancient and the innovative, a model that
combines a plethora of functions thanks
to its headboard that’s both “habitable”
and “equipped”, with a system that brings
shelves, racks and upholstery together
into one furniture piece. But it’s also the
broader image of a company that never
rests on its laurels, but always glides ef-
fortlessly and fluidly towards new goals,
accepting the challenge of change, which
- more now than ever - is one of the few
certainties of our time.
