St. Germain en Laye
Surrounded by forests and wet from the river Seine, this
resort offers to visitors calm, woods and the attraction
of a city rich in art and history. In the Park, designed by
The Nôtre, further to a brilliant walk you can enjoy an
amazing panoramic view of the Seine. The fi rst fortifi ed
building dating back to 1122, when Louis VI sought to
ensure Royal authority over his vassals, making St.
Germain a place to stay and hunt. Henry II did raise a
new Castle, château Neuf, that Henry IV did enlarge
increasing the Park to the Seine with a terracing in the
style of the Italian gardens of Renaissance.
