4. PRODUCT AND CARE INFORMATION
PLEASE ALWAYS ENSURE THAT LAMPS ARE DISCONNECTED
FROM A LIVE ELECTRICAL SOURCE BEFORE CLEANING
CERAMIC AND GLASS
Porta Romana blown glass products are individually made and
so subject to variance in shape, colour, size and air bubbles in
each lamp.
To maintain the appearance of our ceramic and glass products
we recommend dusting using a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Mirror
glass should be treated with proprietary cleaner, except on the
Antiqued mirror glass where abrasive cleaning products should
be avoided.
METAL AND PLATED PRODUCTS
Our Nickel products require the light use of a proprietary silver
cloth periodically.
Bronze and Specialist Brass finishes can, if handled incorrectly,
result in uneven patination and so we recommend the white
gloves included with the product are used for installation and
subsequent handling. We also recommend that these finishes are
kept free from moisture and condensation as a damp atmosphere
and changing temperature can cause discolouration.
PAINTED AND GILDED DECORATIVE FINISHES
Painted and Gilded Decorative finishes should be dusted with a
soft, dry, lint-free cloth without the use of any cleaning products.
PERSPEX
Perspex should be dusted with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
A damp cloth can be used if required, followed by a buff with a
dry cloth. Do not use any cleaning products or micro fibre cloths
on polished Perspex.
SLATE
The natural slate used in our products may have charming
irregularities where the natural mineral deposit is visible. To
maintain the appearance of the slate a damp cloth can be used
on marks and spills or a small quantity of white spirit for more
stubborn stains.
LAMPSHADES
Our lampshades, particularly the silk, should be kept away from
direct sunlight. Dust can be removed by gently vacuuming or
lightly dusting with a dry, lint-free cloth.
FURNITURE
Porta Romana furniture is hand-polished or hand-painted and
lacquered, and special care and attention is required to retain
their finish and quality. If your furniture is destined for an area
where it will receive heavy wear then we are able to quote to
provide of a protective glass top.
Furniture should not be placed in direct sunlight or have hot or
cold items directly on the surfaces. Items on the surface of the
furniture should not be dragged across or the furniture itself
always lifted clear of the floor when moving.
FURNITURE TOPS
We recommend that our furniture tops should be dusted
regularly using a dry micro-fibre cleaning cloth with additional
instructions as follows,
LACQUERED TOPS INCLUDING WOOD FINISHES,
FAUX CONCRETE AND FAUX LIMESTONE
Lacquered tops should be cleaned with a silicone free furniture
polish. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or hardwax which will be
harmful to the finish. Always avoid spraying polish directly on the
furniture and spray onto the cleaning cloth
Any spills should be blotted immediately, avoiding using a wiping
or buffing motion.
FAUX SLATE MATT LACQUERED TOP
Any stains should be removed using a glass cleaner using a soft
lint free cloth and a blotting action. The surface of a matt top
may burnish if rubbed with an abrasive material or cleaner.
WALL FIXING OF FURNITURE
Where furniture items are listed as requiring wall fixing, the wall
fixing brackets are included as part of the design of the product.
Consoles which are fixed to the wall are not designed to bear an
unreasonable weight and care must be taken to distribute any
load evenly.

All upholstered furniture is supplied with a schedule 3 interliner.
Upholstery fabric supplied to Porta Romana must be either
75% natural fibre, cotton, flax, viscose, modal, silk or wool OR
