Design tales in the rain
Ready-made version of the classic French-style wrought iron chairs, Rain – chair and table – show off the successful use of new methods in the working of metal and sheet metal, softened by laser etched decoration. The lightweight lines of the frame appear to render Tord Boontje’s floral designs from a woodland microcosm into three dimensions. Organic lianas, stems, filaments spring from the earth to hold up tops where dew drops form elegant arabesques, an ephemeral reflection of a mysterious, fairytale parallel dimension.
