La carta geografica è per me
soprattutto legata all’infanzia:
assieme al ritratto di un re, la
cartografia era una delle poche
tipilogie di immagini esistenti
all’interno del mio universo.
Mentre ero a scuola le disegnavo
quando iniziavo ad annoiarmi:
poichè facevano parte
dell’iconografia scolastica; avevo
l’impressione che fossero tollerate,
rispettate. È anche un linguaggio
facile in cui eccellere e che
permette di considerarsi quasi un
Dio, in quanto lì vengono
organizzate le cose e il mondo.
C’è una dimensione di
megalomania nelle carte – avevo
voglia di evadere dalla realtà.
For me maps are connected with
childhood first of all. Along with
the portrait of the king, maps are
very one of the only types of
images that existed in my
environment. I would draw them
at school as soon as I began to get
bored. Because they were part of
school iconography, I had the
impression that they were
tolerated, respectable. It’s also a
language that is easy to master
and one that allows you to take
yourself for God, because things
and the world are organized there.
There is a megalomaniac
dimension in maps – I wanted to
escape from reality.
