Dagli anni ’80 il suo lavoro si pone
provocatoriamente al confine tra scultura,
architettura e design industriale, con un incessante
processo creativo in grado di mescolare tecniche
artigianali e avanzate tecnologie industriali.
L’uso espressionistico di metalli come l’acciaio e
l’alluminio, nell’incontro con Moroso, si è tradotto
in sperimentazioni morfologiche nel campo
dell’imbottito che hanno dato vita a prodotti
divenuti icone del design, come Spring Collection
(1991) e Misfits (2007). Molti dei suoi lavori sono
esposti nelle collezioni permanenti del Centre
Georges Pompidou di Parigi, del Metropolitan
Museum of Art di New York, del Victoria & Albert
Museum di Londra e del Vitra Design Museum in
Germania.
Since the ‘80s, his work has stood
provocatively on the boundary between sculpture,
architecture and industrial design, with
an unceasing creative process that mixes craft
techniques with advanced industrial technology.
In his collaboration with Moroso, his expressionistic
use of metals such as steel and aluminium resulted
in experiments in furniture forms which gave rise
to what would become iconic pieces of design,
such as the Spring Collection (1991) and Misfits
(2007). Many of his works are on display in
the permanent collections of the Centre Georges
Pompidou in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum
of Art in New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum
in London and the Vitra Design Museum in
Germany.

sogno, sono in grado di stimolare emozioni
di stupore e inquietudine; un’esplorazione
romantica incline alla decorazione quanto alle
qualità narrative di un prodotto, che incorpora
nel design industriale una sensibilità poetica
ed artigianale sempre attenta alla sperimentazione
di materiali e tecnologie produttive. Molti dei
suoi progetti sono presenti nelle più importanti
collezioni internazionali, tra le quali il Victoria
& Albert Museum di Londra e il MoMA di New York.
His work is characterised by imagery
consisting of delicately intricate natural elements,
figures which evoke feelings of wonder and
unease, as in a dream; a romantic exploration
tending to the decorative as much as to the
narrative quality of a product, bringing a poetic and
hand-crafted sensibility to industrial design with
an approach that focuses on experimentation with
materials and production technology. Many of
his designs are displayed in major international
collections, including the Victoria & Albert Museum
in London and MoMA in New York.
