Phoenix sono caratterizzati dalla forma
ovoidale e leggermente irregolare
dei piani. Due superfici orizzontali che,
come proiezioni bidimensionali
di forme organiche, scivolano l’una
sull’altra, sovrapponendosi in parte.
Una suggestione che svela la scelta
del nome, derivata dalla silhouette
dell’astronave USS Phoenix di
Star Trek, serie televisiva icona della
cultura fantascientifica americana
degli anni ’60.
Designed by Patricia Urquiola in 2004,
the tables of the Phoenix collection
have distinctive tops, ovoid and slightly
irregular in shape. Two horizontal
surfaces slide over each other, partially
overlapping, like two-dimensional
projections of organic shapes.
This image explains the choice of
name, derived from the silhouette of the
spaceship USS Phoenix from Star Trek,
the iconic 1960s science fiction series
produced for American television.
