Nella sedia imbottita Pheaby,
disegnata da Patricia Urquiola nel
2023, l’approccio costruttivo si esprime
attraverso un insolito antagonismo tra
design artigianale e pensiero industriale,
risolto nella massima efficienza
strutturale degli elementi costitutivi.
Le gambe, appoggi più simili all’idea
di un cavalletto da falegname che
alla gamba di una sedia, supportano
una seduta morbida, rotondeggiante
e completamente priva di spigoli.
Pheaby sfrutta così al massimo le
caratteristiche dei materiali che la
compongono rivelando, nella sua
versatilità, leggerezza e comodità, la
natura razionale alla base di ogni scelta
formale.
The approach to construction in
the Pheaby padded chair, designed by
Patricia Urquiola in 2023, involves an
unusual antagonism between artisanal
design and industrial thinking, resolved
in the structural efficiency of the
component parts. The legs, perhaps
more suggestive of a carpenter’s trestle
than conventional chair legs, support
a soft rounded seat completely free of
edges. The properties of the materials
used for construction are exploited
to the full, offering versatility, lightness
and comfort that bear witness to
the rationality underlying every stylistic
choice.
