Disegnata da Patricia Urquiola nel
2002, la collezione Fjord deriva dall’idea
di scardinare l’oggetto simmetrico e
perfetto di derivazione scandinava con
un nuovo modo, più contemporaneo,
orientato alla ricerca di una bellezza rotta
e asimmetrica. L’influenza scandinava
evocata dal nome si ritrova anche
nella presenza di un taglio allungato,
metafora delle insenature delle coste
nordiche. Come in un ciclo naturale, la
scocca della poltrona, sagomata dal
tempo e dall’acqua, diventa poltroncina
e poi ancora sgabello. Linee dolci che
sostengono e accolgono, evidenziate
dall’accuratezza delle cuciture a vista in
armonia continua con l’essenzialità della
struttura.
Designed by Patricia Urquiola in
2002, and inspired by the search
for disrupted and asymmetrical beauty,
the Fjord collection stems from the idea
of adding a new and more contemporary
flavour to the symmetry and perfection
of Scandinavian style. The Scandinavian
influence evoked by the name is also
found in the presence of an elongated
incision, a metaphor for the coves of the
northern coasts. As in a natural cycle,
the shell of the armchair, moulded by
time and water, turns first into a small
armchair and then into a stool. The
pleasing lines are bold and welcoming,
highlighted by precise stitching that is
highly visible and always in harmony with
Fjord’s structural essence.
