Il design e le arti hanno da sempre a che fare
con l’abitare e la città. Negli ultimi anni ho
lavorato a lungo a Istanbul, a Seoul e a New
York. Ho studiato in profondità le logiche e le
contraddizioni della loro trasformazione ur-
bana recente, il diritto all’abitare. Ma solo
dopo aver visto Zaatari ho compreso qual è il
futuro della città. Dopo Daab (Kenia), Zaatari
è il più grande campo profughi al mondo. […
] Moroso potrebbe direzionare una nuova
parte della propria ricerca all’interno del
campo di Zaatari, lavorando con i designers,
gli artisti, gli architetti, gli artigiani residenti?
Propongo la produzione di una serie di tappeti
di calcestruzzo: pochi chili di sabbia prelevata
dal deserto giordano. Il materiale, condotto
in laboratorio, è miscelato con acqua e malta
e colato in una cassaforma. Il risultato è una
lastra di calcestruzzo. La serie potrebbe pro-
seguire con: granito Nero Assoluto dello Zim-
bawe; Alabastro turco; Manhattan schist, la
roccia metamorfica sopra cui è costruita Man-
hattan.
Design and the arts, have always have to do
with housing and the city. In the last few years,
I have worked for longtime in Istanbul, Seoul
and New York. I deeply studied logics and con-
tradictions of their recent urban transforma-
tion, the right to the city. But, only through
Zaatari, I saw what is the future of the city.
After Daab (Kenya), Zaatari is the largest re-
fugee camp in the world. […] The upcoming
Moroso research, might be focused on the Zaa-
tari camp? Could Moroso work together with
designers, artists, architects, artisans who live
in the camp? For Moroso Concept 2017, I pro
pose the production of a Concrete Carpet Col-
lection: a few kilograms of sand from the Jor
dan desert, is collected. Once brought to the
studio, they are mixed with water and cement
to be poured. The result is a 'concrete sheet'.
The series might going on with: Absolute Black
granite from Zimbawe; Turkish alabaster; Man-
hattan schist, the metamorphic rock that is
under the Manhattan skyscrapers.
