Let’s face it: when we think of a stool, ‘comfort’ is not the
first word that springs to mind. Francesco Rota accepted
the challenge: to design a high stool with a seat as
comfortable as an armchair, which also has beautiful, light
and contemporary graphic appeal. He designed a high
backrest that supports and sustains the back, with padding
that envelops the entire wide seat. Its soft lines continue
in the base, where slide frame metal rod legs give impetus
to the overall effect without forgetting to incorporate a
comfortable footrest bar. Having mastered the challenge,
all that remained for this successful balancing act was to
find a name, and that was the easiest part: GLOVE. You only
need to sit down to understand why.
Diciamo la verità: quando pensiamo a uno sgabello,
la parola “comfort” non è la prima che ci viene in mente.
Francesco Rota ha raccolto la sfida: disegnare uno
sgabello alto la cui seduta fosse accogliente come
una poltroncina e che, allo stesso tempo, avesse un
bel segno grafico, leggero e contemporaneo. Ha pensato
a uno schienale alto che sorregge e sostiene il dorso,
con un’imbottitura che avvolge tutta l’ampia seduta.
La morbidezza delle linee continua nella base, dove le
gambe in tondino di metallo “a slitta” donano slancio
all’insieme ma non dimenticano di ospitare una comoda
barretta poggiapiedi. Vinta la scommessa, a questo
riuscito esercizio di equilibrio non restava che trovare
un nome, ed è stata la parte più facile: GLOVE, guanto.
Basta sedercisi per capire il perché.
