BAROQUE
The word “baroque” comes directly from
the French and may have been adapted
from the Portuguese term “barroco”,
a flawed pearl. Precious and rich as
a gem, baroque is a highly ornate and
extravagant style of architecture, music,
painting, sculpture that flourished in
Europe from the early 17th until the
mid-18th century. The Baroque style was
applied to furniture design throughout
western Europe: a rich and exuberant
taste that used contrasts, movements,
deep colours, grandeur and surprise to
achieve a sense of awe.
With Jumbo Collections, the baroque style
relives with a new, brighter and cleaner
approach; a new line of furniture in which
each detail contributes to the harmonious
movement of the overall design.
