La collezione Decumano nasce dalla collaborazione
tra i designer Giulio Iacchetti e Matteo Ragni, un sodalizio
professionale e personale consolidato nel tempo. Per
rispondere al brief che chiedeva di realizzare un tavolo
direzionale e meeting, i due designer – anziché optare per
soluzioni estetiche ovvie - scelgono di concentrarsi sulla
definizione di una struttura portante solida e innovativa.
Il risultato è un incrocio ortogonale di travi leggere che
sostengono il piano, formando un quadrilatero che
richiama, in modo essenziale, l’assetto delle città romane.
Il nome Decumano sottolinea questo snodo strutturale,
simbolo di funzionalità e precisione, rispecchiando
l’approccio produttivo e progettuale di Fantoni.
L’idea alla base del design è quella di creare un equilibrio
tra robustezza e leggerezza, in cui la forma si trasforma
in un elemento distintivo del pezzo. Nelle versioni più
iconiche, il piano è volutamente in cristallo trasparente
ad evidenziare la chiarezza del design, evitando l’aggiunta
di sovrastrutture concettuali superflue e permettendo
al tavolo di esprimere la sua essenza in maniera pura e
immediata.
The Decumano collection is the result of a
collaboration between designers Giulio Iacchetti and
Matteo Ragni, a professional and personal relationship
that has strengthened over time. To fulfil the brief
requiring the creation of an executive and meeting table,
the two designers chose to focus on defining a solid and
innovative supporting structure, rather than opting for
obvious aesthetic solutions. The result is a perpendicular
intersection of lightweight beams that support the top,
forming a quadrilateral that subtly references the layout
of Roman cities. The name Decumano highlights this
structural intersection, symbolising functionality and
precision, reflecting Fantoni’s production and design
approach.
The idea behind the design is to create a balance between
sturdiness and lightness, where the form itself becomes
a distinctive element of the piece. In the most iconic
versions, the top is intentionally made of clear glass in
order to highlight the clarity of the design without adding
superfluous conceptual extras, allowing the table to
express its essence in a pure and direct way.
