Simone Bonanni ha una certa
insofferenza nei confronti di un’idea di
design normalizzante e omologante,
mentre riscopre le potenzialità funzionali
ed espressive dell’hand made e delle
arti, valorizzando l’unicità del progetto
anche quando parte di esso è inge-
gnerizzato. “Voglio tenermi stretto il mio
essere un piccolo artigiano”, dice di sé.
“Disegno a mano, tanto, tantissimo e
in modo fine a sé stesso: mi piace fare
ritratti, quadri astratti e illustrazioni.”
Progettista curioso e spontaneo, Bonanni
ha aperto giovanissimo il suo studio
a Milano con un diploma in Industrial
Design allo IED e tre anni di esperienza
sul campo maturata in un contesto
internazionale ad Amsterdam. I suoi
progetti fanno leva sull’emozione che
un oggetto è in grado di trasmettere
prima ancora che sulle qualità formali
dell’oggetto stesso. E lo fanno attraverso
messaggi comprensibili, emozioni
semplici che ci coinvolgono tutti nel
nostro vivere quotidiano.

Simone Bonanni is ever so slightly intolerant of the idea of standardising,
conforming design, while he is re-evaluating the functional and expressive potential
of handmade creations and skilled craftsmanship, enhancing the uniqueness of the
design even when part of it is engineered. “I want to protect my identity as a small-
scale artisan”, he says of himself. “I sketch by hand, a lot, all the time, just for the
pleasure of sketching. I love to do portraits, abstract paintings and illustrations.” An
inquisitive, spontaneous designer, Bonanni opened his design studio in Milan when
he was a very young man with a diploma in Industrial Design from IED and three
years’ international experience in Amsterdam. His designs hinge upon the emotion
that an object can transmit, much more than the object itself. And they do that via
clear messages, simple emotions that involve all of us in our day-to-day living.
