Light on words. A dialogue between past and present
Supporting culture does not only mean preserving the memory of the past, but also knowing how to renew it,
put it back into circulation, and give it a voice in the present. The “Lodola et Boccaccio 25” exhibition was born
from this vision and embodies, in form and content, an extraordinary opportunity for cultural regeneration.
Giovanni Boccaccio, one of the fathers of our literary identity, was able to explore the entire range of human
emotions with lucidity, irony, and depth. His novellas travel through time with surprising vitality: they speak
of love, ingenuity, fortune, downfall, and redemption. These themes still resonate today, revealing how the
Decameron is a work capable of reinventing itself with every reading, every era, every perspective.
The encounter with the stylistic signature of Marco Lodola—an international artist, interpreter of pop language and
light—renews this heritage with unprecedented force. His luminous sculptures do not illustrate Boccaccio: they
pass through him. They absorb his energy, irreverence, and dynamism. And they return him to us in new, vivid
and light forms. A visual bridge between distant centuries and contemporary sensibilities, in which art becomes
story, and story becomes light.

The art collection we have built up over time and the CAMBIO Cultural Center in Castelfiorentino - a space
returned to the community to host exhibitions, events, and dialogues - testify to this belief. But it is collaborations,
like the one with the Ente Nazionale Giovanni Boccaccio and artists like Lodola, that give the fullest meaning to
our way of “making culture”: promoting connections, nourishing critical thinking, and generating new questions.
In a present that often risks severing ties with our roots, “Lodola et Boccaccio 25” invites us to rediscover the
generative power of storytelling, the value of imagination, and the responsibility to revive what has made us a
community.

Luce sulle parole. Un dialogo tra passato e presente
Sostenere la cultura non significa soltanto custodire la memoria del passato, ma saperla rinnovare, rimettere
in circolo, restituirle voce nel presente. La mostra “Lodola et Boccaccio 25” nasce da questa visione e incarna,
nella forma e nel contenuto, una straordinaria occasione di rigenerazione culturale.
Giovanni Boccaccio, tra i padri della nostra identità letteraria, ha saputo indagare con lucidità, ironia e profondità
l’intera gamma dei sentimenti umani. Le sue novelle attraversano il tempo con una vitalità sorprendente:
parlano di amore, ingegno, fortuna, caduta e riscatto. Temi che ancora oggi risuonano, rivelando quanto il
Decameron sia un’opera capace di reinventarsi a ogni lettura, ogni epoca, ogni sguardo.
L’incontro con la cifra stilistica di Marco Lodola – artista internazionale, interprete del linguaggio pop e della
luce – rinnova questo patrimonio con una forza inedita. Le sue sculture luminose non illustrano Boccaccio: lo
attraversano. Ne assorbono l’energia, l’irriverenza, il dinamismo. E ce lo restituiscono in forme nuove, vivide,
leggere. Un ponte visivo tra secoli lontani e sensibilità contemporanee, in cui l’arte si fa racconto, e il racconto
si fa luce.
Per Banca Cambiano 1884, profondamente radicata nel tessuto sociale ed economico della Toscana, progetti
come questo rappresentano l’essenza del nostro impegno culturale: integrare il sostegno allo sviluppo locale

La collezione d’arte che abbiamo costruito nel tempo e il Centro Culturale CAMBIO di Castelfiorentino – spazio
restituito alla comunità per ospitare mostre, eventi, dialoghi – testimoniano questa convinzione. Ma sono le
collaborazioni, come quella con l’Ente Nazionale Giovanni Boccaccio e con artisti come Lodola, a dare il
senso più pieno del nostro modo di “fare cultura”: promuovere connessioni, alimentare lo sguardo critico,
generare nuove domande. In un presente che rischia spesso di recidere il legame con le proprie radici, “Lodola
et Boccaccio 25” ci invita a riscoprire la forza generativa della narrazione, il valore dell’immaginazione e la
responsabilità di rilanciare ciò che ci ha resi comunità.
Progetti come questo rendono tangibile ciò in cui crediamo profondamente: essere una Banca che investe nel
presente per costruire, insieme, il futuro del proprio territorio.
