In 2025, Certaldo celebrates the 650th anniversary of Giovanni Boccaccio’s passing, with a program of
events dedicated to honoring his life and work. Within this context, the exhibition by Marco Lodola assumes
a particularly emblematic significance: Lodola, one of the most acclaimed figures on the Italian contemporary
art scene, reinterprets the Decameron the absolute masterpiece of 14th-century literature through a Pop Neo-
Futurist lens.
The luminous works and paintings created for the occasion, bearing Lodola’s unmistakable stylistic signature,
convey the vitality and enduring relevance of Boccaccio’s universe. Tales of love, wit, and humanity that form
the Decameron are transformed into vibrant, colorful images charged with energy capable of capturing the
viewer’s gaze and translating into contemporary language the legacy of an author who, six hundred and fifty
years after his death, continues to speak to us with surprising freshness.
Our relationship with Marco Lodola began in the early years of the new millennium, and since then his works
have become an integral part of our personal and professional journey. Through our company, MIRABILI Arte
d’Abitare, we have had the honor of presenting his works in major museums and public spaces in Italy and
abroad, building together a path marked by mutual esteem, friendship, and passion for art. For this reason,
seeing him today in dialogue with the figure of Boccaccio and with the Municipality of Certaldo represents not
only a prestigious recognition, but also a profoundly moving moment in which our story intertwines with that of
the artist and with the immortal legacy of one of the fathers of European literature.
Lodola’s interpretation of the Decameron is not a simple iconographic transposition, but rather a creative
act that casts new light on Boccaccio’s pages. Through his Pop Neo-Futurist language, the artist restores to
the public the imaginative force of a work that belongs to the universal heritage, once again demonstrating
the ability of contemporary art to regenerate the great classics, making them alive, relevant, and essential
to our present.

Nel 2025 Certaldo celebra il 650° anniversario della scomparsa di Giovanni Boccaccio, con un programma di
eventi dedicato a onorarne la vita e l’opera. In questo contesto, la mostra di Marco Lodola assume un significato
particolarmente emblematico: Lodola, tra le figure più acclamate della scena artistica contemporanea italiana,
rilegge il Decameron capolavoro assoluto della letteratura del XIV secolo attraverso una chiave Pop Neo-
Futurista.
Le opere luminose e i dipinti realizzati per l’occasione, contraddistinti dall’inconfondibile cifra stilistica di Lodola,
trasmettono la vitalità e l’attualità senza tempo dell’universo di Boccaccio. I racconti d’amore, d’ingegno e
d’umanità che compongono il Decameron si trasformano in immagini vibranti, cariche di colore ed energia
capaci di catturare lo sguardo e di tradurre in linguaggio contemporaneo l’eredità di un autore che, a seicento
cinquanta anni dalla sua morte, continua a parlarci con sorprendente freschezza.
Il nostro rapporto con Marco Lodola ha avuto inizio nei primi anni del nuovo millennio e, da allora, le sue opere
sono divenute parte integrante del nostro percorso personale e professionale. Con la nostra società, MIRABILI
Arte d’Abitare, abbiamo avuto l’onore di presentare i suoi lavori in importanti musei e spazi pubblici in Italia
e all’estero, costruendo insieme un cammino segnato da stima reciproca, amicizia e passione per l’arte. Per
questo motivo, vederlo oggi dialogare con la figura di Boccaccio e con il Comune di Certaldo rappresenta non
solo un prestigioso riconoscimento, ma anche un momento profondamente emozionante, in cui la nostra storia
si intreccia con quella dell’artista e con l’eredità immortale di uno dei padri della letteratura europea.
L’interpretazione che Lodola offre del Decameron non è una semplice trasposizione iconografica, bensì un
atto creativo che illumina di nuova luce le pagine di Boccaccio. Attraverso il suo linguaggio Pop Neo-Futurista,
l’artista restituisce al pubblico la forza immaginifica di un’opera che appartiene al patrimonio universale,
dimostrando ancora una volta la capacità dell’arte contemporanea di rigenerare i grandi classici, rendendoli
vivi, attuali e necessari al nostro presente.
