ARKETIPO FIRENZE
What is Jupiter when you truly look at it? It’s obviously a
masterclass in engineering and cutt ing-edge design.
Four key materials forge something that’s conceived not to
vanish into an environment, but rather to make you stop
and think about all the choices that went into it. Metal,
fi berglass, down, and leather join in an instinctive weaving
of design and function, of comfort and surprise. In this
combination of what might seem to be disparate ideas,
the aim was always to eliminate the inessential and speak
to timeless values and exceptional taste. Jupiter refl ects a
deep devotion to craft smanship, of classic standards of the
handmade.
Even as Jupiter makes an entirely contemporary statement,
it is balanced with a recognition of the past. Th e eff ect is
very much meant to be, again, timeless, as emphasized
through its distinctive use of materials. Th e architectural
elements, nominally dissonant, come together to create
a piece that is airy yet sturdy, dynamic yet stable. Th e
contoured one-piece down cushion/armrest/backrest/
headrest establishes a powerful feeling of ease. Th e chair’s
unusual three-leg structure is echoed by the pouf, its
complement in both use and sty le.
“In my line of work, vitality is everything. One can exercise
it alone or with a group of people; in working with Arketipo,
I saw that it was essential that we fi nd a way to harness
that vitality together. A mutual allegiance to design has to
be at the center throughout the entire process, a symbiotic
one built on knowledge sharing from initial conception to
fi nal product. Th at is what I saw as the Arketipo way, the
hallmark of a company where everyone has a shared vision,
a shared sense of responsibility , a shared commitment to
making a contribution.”
“Let's take the Jupiter armchair as an example: it has become
the signature Arketipo piece, instantly recognizable. Jupiter
was born from an intuition, an instinctual response to the
pivotal question I asked myself: ‘Who is Arketipo?’ ”
Something unconventional emerged, involving a
contrast of three elements—the soft organic materials; the
molded container, a fi ne fi berglass shell that evokes the early
1950s; and the strong, clean metal structure that embraces
and reconfi gures everything. It’s a new expression of the
company’s deep-rooted philosophy.
