If Triclinium represents the anti-classic, Bimbi’s other stand
out design represents the classical. Accademia is a romantic
vision that pushed creative freedom and trust.
“I looked to the past, interpreted with contemporary
materials and with the spirit of Italian rationalism.”
It is a vivid re-reading of the classic, but with modern
eyes. There is the steel armrest “an opportunity to spread
my artistic training at the Art Institute of Volterra”, there
are the swooping lines that connect modern and classical
with a deft touch; the legs stand to attention but never steal
the show and the underplating? Another ode to something
different, something that only vision can describe and
craftsmanship like that of Arketipo can bring.
Everything is done with a careful defiance of the tried and
tested; it is done mindful of what people want and what
is achievable when we truly set our minds to it. This is
what Carlo Bimbi brings with his designs, something that
tests the natural emotions to convey something bigger and
deeper.
