The objective was to highlight \nthe native link between objects and the natural \nworld. A careful observation revealed the subtle \nrelationship between the organic flow of nature \nand the sophisticated functionality of Zucchetti \nproducts. Two installations were thus conceived \nto complement the new Pan S and Sablier \ncollections. The creative process benefited from \nan engaging dialogue and a deep understanding \nof Zucchetti’s design ethos, which guided the \nchoice towards natural materials in harmony \nwith the essence of the collections. Per Sablier abbiamo \nstudiato l’abito di sabbie, rocce e \nminerali, di come questi acquisiscono \nla loro morbidezza attraverso il tempo e \nl’interazione con l’ambiente e gli elementi. \nZ \n Over the years you have worked \non various types of products, from \nautomotive to design, from fashion \nto cosmetics; is this the first time \nyou have dealt with technical \nobjects, albeit of design, such as \nfaucets?\nR.B \n Over the years we really worked across\na broad spectrum of design product \n“worlds” - from ceramics, wash basins \nand kitchen technology to fashion \npresentation, cars and furniture. Zucchetti \nis our first interaction which is very \nspecifically focused on faucets which is a \nfascinating world that for us seamlessly \nconnects with natural material.\nZ \n Tell us about the two installations \nyou designed for Zucchetti’s Pan S \nand Sablier collections. What  \nare the relationships you looked  \nfor between your creations and \nZucchetti’s objects?\nR.B \n We wanted to highlight the philosophical\nconnection between the faucets and \nthe world of nature. Together with our \ncolleagues at Studio Lys, we studied these \nconnections between movement and \ntextures found in nature, and the way those \ninform the design of the products. \nZ \n How have you interpreted \nZucchetti’s products in your \ninstallation?\nR.B \n In our installations, we focused on two\ndifferent themes for the two collections -  \none is a study of sands, rocks and \nminerals, how those gain their smoothness \nthrough time and interaction with their \nenvironment and the elements.We chose \nAbbiamo scelto questi ciottoli unici, \nognuno dei quali racconta la propria storia \nattraverso variazioni di colore, dimensione \ne consistenza. Qualcosa nella moltitudine \ndi ciottoli sembra una visione ingrandita \ndei granelli di sabbia, ognuno unico, \nintrecciato insieme in un paesaggio. Per \nPan S abbiamo optato per un’installazione \ndi ispirazione botanica, abbiamo lavorato \ncon foglie e steli di beetleweed per creare  \nmotivi simili a frattali. Attraverso la molti-\nplicazione di forme uniche ma semplici, \nsi crea un movimento che si esprime sia \nnella struttura d’insieme scultorea, sia \ntramite la singola foglia e radice o stelo.\nZ \n Come è iniziato il tuo processo \ncreativo e come sei arrivato al \nrisultato finale?\nR.B \n Il processo è iniziato attraverso la con-\nversazione e lo studio dell’evoluzione del \npensiero e della filosofia all’origine della \ncreazione della collezione e del design \ndegli articoli. Questo istintivamente ci ha \ncondotti in un viaggio di interazione  \ncon diversi materiali naturali, alla ricerca  \ndi punti di intersezione e similitudini.\nZ \n Perché sono stati scelti questi \nspecifici elementi naturali?\nR.B \n C’è qualcosa di intuitivo nel processo di\nscelta dei materiali, soprattutto quando \nsi lavora con sostanze naturali, si finisce \nper optare per elementi che possano \navere una poetica, che aiuti a raccontare \nla storia. Lavorare con materiali organici \nsignifica rapportarsi spesso con il \nmovimento e con la consistenza, aspetti \nche abbiamo trovato sia nei ciottoli che \nnelle foglie di beetleweed.\nthese unique pebbles, each telling its \nown story through color, size and texture \nvariation. Something about the multitude \nof pebbles feels like an enlarged view \ninto grains of sand - each unique, weaved \ntogether into a landscape. \n For the botanical inspired installation,  \nwe worked with beetleweed leaf and stems \nto create fractal-like patterns, through \nmultiplication of those unique yet simple \nshapes, creating movement that is \nexpressed both through a sculptural form, \nas well as through the individual leaf and \nroot-like stems. \nZ \n How did your creative process start, \nand how did you arrive at the final \noutput?\nR.B \n The process started through conversation\nand a study of the thought process  \nand philosophy behind the creation of the \ncollection and the design of the items, \nwhich intuitively then sent us on a journey \nof interacting with different natural \nmaterials, looking for these points of inter-\nsection and similarities.\nZ \n Why did you choose these specific \nnatural elements?\nR.B \n There is something intuitive in the process\nof choosing the materials, especially  \nwhen working with natural materials, you \nend up going for things that may have \nsome poetic quality in them that helps tell \nthe story. Working with organic materials \nis a lot about a movement and texture, \nwhich we found both in the pebbles and in \nthe beetleweed.\n12\nMARY LENNOX dimensions to make them \nsuitable for any type of wall, to guarantee the items’ waterproofness to avoid any condensation,  \nto make installation easy, immediate and fast on any type of support (from traditional brickwork \nto plasterboard), to adapt seamlessly to the external parts.\nThe choice of materials makes the Z-BOX system eco-sustainable: the metal parts are made \nof low lead content
