Born to satisfy practical \nneeds, it has been ennobled by the creativity of those \nwho over time have skillfully woven threads of\ndifferent nature.\nLast year, visiting the 60th Venice Art Biennale, I \nwas surprised by the large number of textile works. \nIn reality, this is not new: ninety years earlier – \nat the 19th Biennale – many fabrics were on display.\nOf these, a remarkable 18 were developed and\nproduced by Rubelli based on designs and projects \nby artists such as Gio Ponti or Vittorio Zecchin.\nThis is a clear recognition of the fact that fabric, in\naddition to its practical function, can become an \nartistic expression.\nThis concept is not foreign to us, considering that \nour goal has always been to create fabrics that com-\nbine functionality and aesthetics (I proudly affirm \nthat the prestigious EDIDA award, assigned to us \nthree times in five years, confirms that Rubelli is able \nto achieve this goal).\nFabric moves, excites, amazes, tells stories – just like \na work of art. \nFabric is our passion, and the 2025 collection \ncelebrates it in its various forms and materials: \nnatural fibres such as wool, silk, linen or cotton, and \nhigh-performance technical fibres. Light and\ndelicate fabrics for draping, as well as textured \nfabrics for upholstery. Plain colours, textures, \ndecorative designs, and geometric patterns. the process often \nseemed to ideally recall that of the history of art of \nthe last century, in a progressive abstraction\nof figures.\nThe first photo shoot consolidates a language inau-\ngurated last year, openly inspired by a fundamental \nfigure of twentieth-century art, the painter\nDomenico Gnoli.\nThis year, we introduced a new element: animals. \nCats, dogs, a turtle, and a bird have joined our\ncompositions. We believe that still life, a cornerstone \nof art history, is well-suited for art but perhaps less \nso for capturing the domestic sphere. \nBy incorporating pets belonging to friends and\ncolleagues, we’ve given our still lifes a more lively, \nless static quality. After all, an empty house isn’t \ntruly a home.\nFor the second shoot, the choice of location fell upon \nVilla Borsani, which requires little introduction. \nThe villa is an extraordinary marriage of art and \ntechnique, a testament to the vision of its designer \nand inhabitant, Osvaldo Borsani. Borsani was an \narchitect, designer, and entrepreneur who dedicated \nhis career to exploring the qualities of materials, \ncombining a love of technology with a passion for art. \nThe villa has hosted many notable figures, including \nLucio Fontana, Gio Ponti, Arnaldo e Gio Pomodoro, \nUgo Mulas, Roberto Crippa, Fausto Melotti.\nBorsani’s eclectic spirit is perfectly aligned with \nRubelli fabrics. Teorema features a strong presence \nof durable and beautiful contract fabrics, as well as \nthe introduction of wool — a relatively new material \nfor Rubelli. It seems that architecture and fabric are, \nat times, allegories of each other. Technique and \naesthetics, form and function, are neither cause nor \nconsequence. They serve the everyday. Teorema, like \nthe home, is meant to be lived in and loved.\nEdited by\nFormafantasma\nPer passare da Gardens a Teorema il processo è spesso \nsembrato richiamare idealmente quello della storia \ndell’arte del secolo scorso, in una progressiva astrazione \ndelle figure.\nIl primo servizio fotografico consolida un linguaggio \ninaugurato lo scorso anno, apertamente ispirato ad una \nfigura fondamentale dell’arte del Novecento, il pittore \nDomenico Gnoli.\nQuest’anno, rispetto a quello passato, nelle foto si sono \naggiunte delle presenze: tre cani, un gatto, una tartaruga \ned un uccellino. Abbiamo pensato che uno dei temi fon-\ndanti della storia dell’arte è lo still life, o natura morta: \ntema estremamente appropriato per l’arte, ma forse non \naltrettanto per raccontare la dimensione domestica. \nAnimali di amici e colleghi ci sono così venuti in aiuto per \nrendere questa natura meno morta. Una casa disabitata, \nin fondo, non è una casa.\nPer il secondo shooting la scelta della casa è ricaduta \nsu Villa Borsani, che ha bisogno di poche introduzioni. \nLa villa è un connubio straordinario di arte e tecnica \nper volontà di chi l’ha progettata e abitata, Osvaldo \nBorsani. Borsani è stato un architetto, un designer e un \nimprenditore che per tutta la sua carriera ha indagato \nincessantemente la qualità dei materiali, unendo\namorevole curiosità per le tecnologie e passione per l’arte.\nLa casa ha visto passare tra le sue mura ospiti come \nLucio Fontana, Gio Ponti, Arnaldo e Gio Pomodoro, Ugo \nMulas, Roberto Crippa, Fausto Melotti.\nLo spirito eclettico di Borsani si sposa alla perfezione \ncon i tessuti Rubelli. In Teorema c’è una forte presenza di \ntessuti contract, durevoli e belli, ma anche l’introduzione \ndella lana, tipologia quasi inedita per Rubelli, in tre \ndiversi tessuti. Sembra che architettura e tessuto siano a \ntratti una l’allegoria dell’altro. Tecnica ed estetica, forma \ne funzione, non sono né conseguenze né cause. Sono a \nservizio della quotidianità.
