If you asked an older Polish \nperson about the brand, you would prob-\nably hear that PAGED chairs or tables are \na perfect choice if you need lasting quality \nand timeless design. This is because many \ngrandmas all over the country still have \nour chairs in their living rooms, therefore \nwe are associated with something homely, \ncomfy and familiar. It’s been like that for \nsome 140 years.\nThis year we want to show you  \na less familiar and drastically different \nface of our brand. Because today PAGED \nis where all vast experience is used to \nbuild a new future. Here ideas meet and \ncollide. We make use of CNC machines \nand experienced human wood benders. \nDesigners from various backgrounds freely \ncollaborate with craftsmen and engineers. \nFantasies come true.\nDiversity of approaches and ex-\npressions is our statement. We neither fol-\nlow nor particularly care about any trends. \nWe believe that great designs are born out \nof freedom of thought and positive inter-\nactions between people who dare to leave \ntheir comfort zones. Most \nof her designs address the need for an \nagency to transform material objects – \nfrom coat hangers to LEGo figures, as ola \nalso works for that famous Billund-based \ncompany. Her version of Thonet’s B-1840 \nmodel is about the compulsive urgency of \ntouching and moving bead-like elements \nthreaded into an armrest. This is also the case with his \nproject dubbed “the narrowest house in the \nworld”, aka Keret House, which was included \nin New York City’s MoMA collection. This \nalso applies to the only piece in the Alter Ego \nCollection that is not a furniture. The ToTEM  \nis supposed to conceal its true purpose of  \na jewellery box behind the look of an enig-\nmatic yet colourful sculpture. In fact, it’s a \nstack of separate modular containers that can \nbe configured according to your fancy. ISKrY means \n“SPArKS” in Polish. This is probably why the \nstudio’s founders, Marysia Gajewska and \nMichał Niedośpiał, decided to put some \nsparks into the process by slightly burning \nthe structure of the A-1880, painting it \nafterwards in hues of orange and blue. This \nburning, inspired by the Japanese yakisugi \ntechnique, made the wood’s natural pattern \nmore pronounced at the risk of burning \ndown the workshop.
