O, alcuni di loro,\nmuoversi fra l’erba secca di una\nsavana come serpenti, \no come scorpioni velenosi.\nThis is both a book and a catalogue,\nbut also much more. The finished work\n- a combination of photography,\ngraphic design, artwork and literary\ntexts - is the result of a\ncollaborative undertaking dedicated to\nbringing the fruits of human endeavour\nand nature together in one place. \nAt the same time, we wanted to tell a\nstory about the chosen locations.\nEschewing the exotic, but also the\nfamiliar and ordinary, we set our\nsights on a place we know and love,\nour homeland Friuli. \nWe played make-believe, imagining\nourselves both ‘here’ and yet also\n‘elsewhere’, where the ‘here’ \nis evidenced by the data and images\nprovided by Google-Earth, and the\n‘elsewhere’ is evoked by the\nphotographic images and the\naccompanying texts. The objects\nfeatured in the OUT collection, \nwhich form the basis for the stories\nrecounted here, were placed as if they\nwere engaged in a conspiratorial and\nplayful conversation with nature.\n“They’ll be planted in gardens like\nflowers, surrounded by greenery and\nlive beneath the sky,” we told the\ndesigners involved. We imagined we were\nin Friuli Venezia Giulia, our native\nland, and that were out playing with\nthe rest of the world. We went around\nplanting objects as if we were\nplanting flowers in spring and\nwatched them grow as they danced\nbeneath the branches; we hid them,\nstill fragile yet full-grown, beneath\nthe snow. We had a French afternoon\ntea with our table friends, as we\nfled from screaming armchairs racing\nto catch the moon. We found calm and\npeace of mind as we stood before the\nsea. We were a bunch of friends; men,\nwomen and objects, and for almost a\nyear we played on nature’s floor. \nWe had a wonderful time, we even did\nsome magic. What we were eager to\nconvey was the aura of these places.\nWe were enchanted by the image\nevoked; the land transformed before\nour eyes: another world, but our\nworld, our native home. \nAnd this is what is still surprising\nto us, the joy we had inventing\nfairytales. We were a bunch of\nfriends; men, women and objects, and\nfor almost a year we played on\nnature’s floor. We sat and listened\nto the world, the world here around\nus, but it could be anywhere \nand in the eyes of each and every\none of us.\nÈ l’idea del viaggio che ci piace\nraccontare.
