Come Luca Meda, al quale viene \nreso omaggio con la produzione di Palinfrasca, il \ndivano che trae ispirazione proprio da un’opera del \n1994 firmata dall’architetto.\nLandmark è composta da un significativo \nnumero di elementi, tra cui divani, terminali, chaise \nlongue, una “love seat” circolare e una quadrata, \ne una poltrona, corredati da un ampio set di \ncuscini – che possono essere facilmente accostati \nin configurazioni sempre diverse per differenti \nmomenti di convivialità: da ambienti lounge fino a \nliving più tradizionali.\nL'intreccio a fasce dello schienale è l'elemento \ndistintivo della collezione: la fettuccia, disponibile \nsia in teak al naturale sia in poliuretano EVA verde \noliva (effetto cuoio), oltre a rappresentare il ritmo \nche orchestra i vari arredi della serie, richiama \ndimensionalmente Timeout.\nI cuscini di seduta sono incastonati nella struttura \nin massello di teak. Le proporzioni sono calibrate e \nle linee del rivestimento pulite, per lasciare spazio \nalla raffinatezza dell'intreccio. Gli spessori delle \ncuscinature sono generosi, per un maggiore comfort \ndi seduta e una presenza materica evidente.\nNonostante siano leggere e removibili, tutte le \nsedute sono fornite di teli di copertura protettivi in \ntessuti idrorepellenti.\nLandmark takes shape from fluid, organic lines \nand the distinct materiality of the elements. A \ndesign without corners, characterised by the woven \nteak wood motif that circumscribes the back, \nembracing the material with comfort and design. \nEverything is softened and cosy: the furnishings \nare soft to the touch, the structures have no \nedges, even in the connections between seat and \nsupportive frame.\nThe wooden elements are rich in details, curves \nand joints of high cabinet making, thus enhancing \ntheir sculptural forms.  They reflect Molteni&C's \nDNA, which stems precisely from the working of \nwood, here reinterpreted through a design that is \nable to express the wisdom and skill of tradition \nwith a contemporary aesthetic language, drawing \ninspiration from the lessons of the protagonists of \narchitecture who have worked with the Company \nin interpreting wood. Like Luca Meda, to whom \nhomage is paid with the production of Palinfrasca, \nthe sofa inspired by a 1994 work by the architect.\nLandmark hosts a significant number of \nelements, including sofas, end pieces, chaise \nlongues, a circular and a square 'love seat', \nand an armchair, accompanied by a large set \nof cushions - which can be easily combined in \ndifferent configurations for different moments \nof conviviality: from lounge settings to more \ntraditional living spaces.\nThe banded weave of the back is the distinctive \nelement of the collection: the ribbon, available in \nboth natural teak and olive green EVA polyurethane \n(leather effect), represents the rhythm that \norchestrates the various furnishings of the series, \nand recalls the dimensions of Timeout.\nThe seat cushions are set into the solid teak \nframe. The proportions are calibrated and the \nlines of the upholstery clean, leaving room for the \nrefinement of the weave. Un arredo di grande maestria manifatturiera, \ntestimonianza della visione progettuale di Ponti. Un \nprodotto complesso ma pensato per una produzione \nindustriale, perché “L'industria è la maniera del XX \nsecolo, è il suo modo di creare” (Gio Ponti, 1925).\nThe outdoor proposal coordinated by Vincent \nVan Duysen is joined by two important projects \nby Gio Ponti, enriching Molteni&C's Heritage \nCollection: great classics, expressions of extremely \ncontemporary design ideas that the brand revives.\nThus the iconic D.154.2, already in the indoor \ncatalogue, finds a new identity and use in its outdoor \nversion. The D.150.5 solid wood chaise longue, \ndesigned by Gio Ponti for the cruise ship Andrea \nDoria in 1952, sees the light. A piece of furniture of \ngreat craftsmanship, it is evidence of Ponti's design \nvision. La freddezza dell'alluminio è riscaldata \ndalla verniciatura color brunito, cromia che richiama \nil mondo naturale, come i marroni della terra, accesa \nda tonalità più calde.\nLa proposta si distingue per la fascia in alluminio \nche, piegandosi senza interrompersi, crea la struttura \ndi sostegno, i braccioli e i piedini d'appoggio. Il \ntema dell'intreccio diventa nella parte metallica \npuramente evocativo: legato all'idea di movimento \nanziché alla mera forma, minimale senza perdere \nla sensualità materica. Il “weaving” diviene invece \nesplicito nel rivestimento della struttura, realizzato \ncon un intreccio di nastri in fibra di polietilene. \nUn intreccio minuto e fitto, capace di generare \nun contrasto efficace con l'essenzialità della parte \ndi metallo. L'intreccio, eseguito magistralmente \na mano, porta con sé anche quei valori di rarità e \npreziosità del saper fare artigianale.\nTimeout interprets the theme of metal, \npresenting it in a modern way in a whole range \nof furnishings, such as: two-seater sofa, armchair \nwith or without armrests, chair with or without \narmrests, sunbed, stool, bench, low table and dining \ntable - to define plein air environments or spaces \nhalf indoors and half outdoors.\nVan Duysen draws his inspiration from the \ntradition of fer forgé, reserving for the metal a \nformal precision and purity that recalls elegant, \nmodernist languages. The coldness of aluminium \nis warmed by the burnished paint, a colour that \nevokes the natural world, such as the browns of \nearth, lit up by warmer tones.\nThe proposal is distinguished by the aluminium \nband which, continuously bending, creates the \nsupport structure, the armrests and the support \nfeet. The weaving theme becomes purely evocative \nin the metal part: linked to the idea of movement \nrather than mere form, minimal without losing its \nmaterial sensuality. Instead, the “weaving” becomes \nexplicit in the upholstery of the structure, made of \na weave of polyethylene fibre ribbons. \nA minute and dense weave, capable of generating \nan effective contrast with the minimalism of the \nmetal part.
